Voltron Ending Theme
"Voltron: Defender of the Universe" was a famous TV anime series that was released to the US in the early 1980's. Its premise resembles that of Robotech: three separate anime series that were intertwined together in one storyline. The following anime TV series make up Voltron: Voltron I (Dairugger XV), fifteen different characters each with their own vehicle make up one giant robot; Voltron III (Go Lion), a giant robot formed from five robot lions, and Voltron II (Albegas) a large robot gladiator robot formed from three smaller, less powerful robots. Dairugger XV had small success because following fifteen characters in one series was difficult to keep track. Go Lion acheived phenomenal success. So much so, a new Voltron 3-D series was created, based on the original anime. Albagas, unfortunately, never arrived to the United States, but rumors of the first episode of Albegas run rampant throughout the internet. This rumor, however, was proved neither right nor wrong.
The picture above shows the pilots of the robot lions of Go-Lion. Keith, pilot of the black lion, is the one in red. Lance, pilot of the red lion, is the one in blue. Pidge, pilot of the green lion, is the one in green. Swen, pilot of the blue lion, is the one in black. Hunk, pilot of the yellow lion, is the one in yellow. This line-up lasted for six episodes until episode 7 where Haggar the Witch drew Swen alone and killed him. Princess Allura replaced Swen's position as pilot of the Blue Lion.
The pictures above show the five robot lions of Go-Lion. The Black lion forms the head and body. The red and green lions form the arms. The blue and yellow lion forms the legs.
A few months ago, I found this picture of the the Deluxe Voltron Toy I used to play with when I was very young. Trendmasters has been making them for some time now. Thanks to Voltron's second coming, more of these gems are being sold! I got to find a place that has this for sale so that I can buy myself this. It would look great with my computer! :)
Look at this! Go-Lion & Dairugger XV standing together! Years ago, a voltron special aired where Go-Lion & Dairugger XV crossed over, fighting against their respective enemies at once. What a sight to see! It's a shame my mom erased the tape that held that special. *sigh* I wish someone could tell me where I can find The Voltron Special on VHS... This page hosted by |
