Welcome of my Dragon Quest 4 Shrine!

Dragon Quest 4 is the fourth installment of the famous Dragon Quest series. Us english speakers know of this much better as Dragon Warrior 4. This also starts a new trilogy series, known as the "Tenku" series. Dragon Quest 4 is divided into 5 separate chapters.

Chapter 1: The Royal Soldiers
Chapter 2: Princess Alena's Adventures
Chapter 3: Taloon the Arms Merchant
Chapter 4: The Sisters of Monbaraba
Chapter 5: The Chosen Ones

This is Ragnar. He is a royal soldier of Burland Castle. He is introduced in Chapter 1. Mysteriously, the children of Izmit Village were disappearing and Ragnar was sent to investige. Along the way, he meets Healie, a healer (a jellyfish really). After he solves the mystery of the missing children, he discovers an even larger plot, about a legendary hero who will be strong enough to save the world. So he and Healie venture out in the world to find and protect the Chosen One. This is Taloon, a merchance from Lakanaba. For years, he has dreamed of becoming a great arms merchant. Through his adventures, he manages to stop a war between Endor & Bonmalo, started an weapon store & even made a tunnel between Endor & the outside world. Taloon became so popular, he got his own spin-off for the Super Famicom, called "Torneco No Daibouken" (Taloon's Quest).
This is Princess Alena of Santeem Castle, introduced in Chapter 2. Her father, the king of Santeem, has tried to fix her tomboyish ways. One day, she sneaks her way out of Santeem Castle, and her advisor & the chancellor of Santeem, Brey & Cristo, join her as her companions. She manages to save Tempe Village from a monster that sacrifices the town's women, save a charlatan princess, and wins a tournament at Endor. This is Mara, a famous dancer from a entertainment town from Monbaraba. She and her younger sister Mara are introduced in Chapter 4. They were daughters of a famous alchemist Edgar, who stumbled on the Secret of Evolution. However, Edgar was murdered by a ruthless barbarian, named Balzack.
This is Cristo, the chancellor of Santeem Castle. In the original game, there are hints of he & Alena sleeping together, but I don't know for sure. (I don't know Japanese.) In the english version, those hints are reduced to Cristo having a crush on Alena. This is Nara, a fortune teller from Monbaraba. In my opinion, she is my favorite character, because she is the only one who can use the Silver Tarot Cards. Using the Silver Tarot Cards can make certain things happen, good or bad. She and her older sister Mara plotted for years to kill Balzack, the ruler of Keelon Castle, and have their father's spirit rest in peace. Sadly they failed against a more powerful adversary, and had to take a ship to Endor to escape the enemy.
This is Brey, Alena's advisor. This guy helped the king of Santeem raise Alena. Too bad he feels guilty that Princess Alena turned out the way she did. (Poor Brey! :P) This is the hero, well... one of them anyway, born with the blood of a human and a Zenithian, and the only one who can equip Zenithian weapons. In the beginning of the game, where you name your character, you have the option to select male or female. If you select male, the here is the one on the left. If you select female, the hero is the one of the right. (When I discuss about "the hero" on this page, I'm talking about the male hero.) The hero grew up in a tiny hamlet outside of civilization. All was quiet, until one day, monsters came. He was hidden away in a cellar for protection, and his best friend disguised herself and the hero and sacrifice herself so the hero would live. With the hamlet destroyed and the inhabitants massacred, he sets himself in the world to purge the world of all of its evils, and finds himself in the process.

Here are some Dragon Quest & Dragon Warrior files & web sites that I found that can be quite usefull, but I have yet to find out what hell is the Gum Pod is used for. I've been trying to figure this out for months.

Please put this graphic somewhere on this site. If there are enough, maybe Enix will come back to the US.

Well... that's it. It's not much, but it's something. Please remember that all of this is copywrited to Enix. They were the one who brought Dragon Quest to existance. I'm just putting this here because I love this game series.
One more thing, if you can find this game for the NES, good luck. This game is the most rare RPG for the NES to this date. (Enix didn't make a lot of copies of this game in the US) If you're looking to buy this game, be sure to shell out a lot of dinero for it. Most people who own is won't part with it (I should know...) and those who are willing to sell it would ask about $60 for it. The best way is to go find it at a flea market, a store that sells old game cartidges for expired systems, or even web auctions. One more thing, if anyone has this game, please e-mail me. I would maim for this elusive cart. Keep in mind that I'm poor and I cannot shell out a lot of money. I'm just a RPG lover who would love to add an old game to a small but growing collection.
Did you know that Akira Toriyama, the creator of the famous anime & manga series Dragon Ball Z, also designed the characters for all the Dragon Quest games? Notice how familliar that the pictures in here look?
