Redridge Dam Update Page
wide shot across lake to upstream side of dams
This is the first major update of this portion of the website in several years. On this page are the most recent photos I've taken of the dams at Redridge taken in early May of 2002. While some aspects of the Steel dam are featured for the first time, the timber dam is more of my concern due to it's alarming degradation over the last few years. If you would like to learn how you can help save this part of the Copper Country's history please visit copperrange.org

A wide shot of the downstream side of the timber dam. Note the sagging logs on the upper right portion.
A close up of the collapsing portion of the dam. I was walking across this portion only a few years ago.
Black and white shot of the top of timber dam taken from west end looking east. Vegitation has been cleared off the ends in recent years so the whole dam is much more visible. (Compare the views you've seen so far to the one at the top of the original dam page.)
Black and white shot of upstream side of the timber dam taken from the west end. The upstream side of the steel dam is in the background.
Black and white shot of 'downstream' side of timber dam "offshoot" that is discussed in the main dam section of this website. This portion of the dam does not hold back water, but it is also starting to deteriorate.
A b&w closeup shot of joints in the "offshoot" section of the dam. Notice the metal rod sticking up from the top of the joints that was used to hold them together.
A b&w wide shot of the downstream side of the timber dam, this time taken from the eastern side. The contrast of the b&w photo really brings out the collapsing portion of the dam.
OK now. We've updated the Timber dam, now onto a few new shots of the steel dam.
