Redridge Dam Update Page 2
wide shot across lake to upstream side of dams
Our tour of the Redridge dams now continue with a few new shots of the steel dam. You've already seen the one above. That's got to be one of my more "artistic" shots of the dam.

The grate in the center of the photo guards the upstream side of the Baltic Mill supply pipe. The valve for this pipe is shown in the main dam page. I also took a picture of the Atlantic upstream side, but it was so overgrown with saplings and other vegitation that I didnt think it would be very easy to see what I was trying to display so I'm not going to post it.
A b&w isolation shot of the steel plating's upstream side. The pitting is very evident from this angle. You can also see weeds occupying the little "shelf" at the bottom of the plate.
B&w shot of the concrete end wall that marks the transition between the steel dam and the eastern concrete core earthen embankment. The metal sticking up at the top of the wall is a fence that is supposed to block off the railroad trestle to traffic.
B&w shot of the railroad tracks on the trestle across the dam site. This trestle does not actually tie into the steel dam structure, it only shares the concrete foundation. I had read somewhere in my research that the rails were removed, but this picture proves otherwise.
That's all I have for now, I took several other photos of the steel I-beam trusses under the dam that would have been cool if they hadn't turned out blurry. (low light is a problem down there) On my next trip to the area I'll have to come up with a game plan to improve on the photos because I know you'll like them.:)
