The Legend of Zelda

The Adventure of Link

This game has more RPG elements than the original and more people consider this an RPG than those that do the original. A real-time battle system is used, and you can duck, cast magic, and jump (as well as some other things.) It also incorporates the idea of "leveling up," which raises an attribute. Unfortunately, this game doesn't seem as popular as the original.

This time, Princess Zelda has been put under a long sleep, caused by an evil spell. Unlike some fairy tales, a mere kiss will not awake here. You, Link, have to journey once again to Death Mountain, and find the source of your troubles. Lose... and Ganon returns... However, he is not your enemy. In the very end, you must fight your own shadow, and retrieve the Triforce of Courage to free Princess Zelda from the spell.

+ A good number of puzzles. You can do more things in combat (examples: magic, duck, jump) than the other LOZ games. Many places to go and things to do. Gain points after winning in battle to "level up" an attribute (life, magic, or attack power). First LOZ game to let you talk to people to gain information.

- Somewhat easy to get stuck. No character development. You can only save when you die. Battles may get annoying sometimes. Points (as mentioned in +) reset to 0 when you turn the game off (but attributes remain the same). NES requires that you press Reset and Power at the same time when turning off the game, otherwise the data may be lost (I don't know why). Lose too much, and Ganon's laugh can get annoying after awhile.

What do I say? Although not as popular as its decendents, it's still a good game. Buy it for a reasonable price for an NES game if you can find it.
