Name:
Pansuto Tarou (English Translation is "Pantyhose Tarou")

Age:
His true age is never determined, however he appears to be about 19-years-old

Curse:
If Tarou doesn't see his "curse" as an actual curse... can it still be called a curse?

Anyway...

Tarou's original cursed form is a combination of four different animals.  The spring he received his curse from is called Niu Ho Man Maolen Niichuan (the creatures drowned there 2500 years ago).  Translation?  A yeti, riding an ox, carrying an eel and a crane.  Therefore, Tarou has the head of an ox, hands of a yeti, feet of an ox, tail of an eel and wings of a crane.  Did I mention that in his cursed form, he's huge?  Later in the series, Tarou jumps into another spring in order to add to his curse (and his monstrous power) thus adding tentacles on an octopus to his back.

Personal History:
It appears that Tarou was born to a single or widowed woman in China.  There is no mention of Tarou's father and he certainly wasn't around when Tarou was born as when his mother (who looks a lot like Akane, by the way) went into labor near the Jusenkyo Springs, Happosai was the only person around to help her deliver her baby.  After little Tarou was born, Happosai went to wash the child off.  The old guy had good intentions, but he mistakenly bathed the boy in a cursed spring, thus the source of Tarou's curse.  To add insult to injury, Happosai then names the boy "Pansuto Tarou" therefore causing years of painful torment for the boy.

Driven by his intense hatred for his name and his desperate yearning to have it changed, Tarou sets off for Japan to find Happosai and to force him to change his name once and for all.

Personality:
Tarou is a persistent individual.  The only thing he wants in his life is to have his name changed and he will probably continually make appearances in Nerima until he gets what he wants.  Tarou has no hang-ups about fighting women as he has taken on Akane, Shampoo and Rouge. (side note: Tarou and Ukyou never met in the manga story-line)

Although Tarou has spoken of situations where he has "saved a girl" from near disaster, such events have always ended badly. Upon saving said girl, she will gratefully ask to know the name of her hero. This inevitably leads to Tarou responding by running away in embarrassment and shame without ever uttering his given name.  This scenario has occured more than once, leaving him to believe that he will never find love or happiness as long as "Pansuto" is part of his life.

From what I have seen of Tarou's behavior, he pretty much either hates everyone in the Ranma universe or is indifferent to them.  The only person he seems to get along with (or who you can say he borderline respects) is Akane.  From what I can tell, she is the only one who doesn't purposefully insult him about his name and who shows him sympathy for his situation. Tarou and Akane do have civil conversations.

Fighting Ability:
(This section is a direct quote from Blade's Tarou F.A.Q.)

Tarou utilizes the "Mien Ch'uan" style of martial arts (Cotton Fist). His art is oriented towards avoiding attacks, and striking when there is perfect opportunities. It is a flowing style, whose practitioners have the balance and grace of a dancer, doing many circular parries and dodges. However, it can also be quite vicious, as it has a "do anything to win" philosophy; hence Tarou's various dirty tricks. He doesn't appear to use any ki attacks (probably doesn't bother; why have ki attacks that can blow holes in walls when you have a cursed form than can knock over buildings?), so relies heavily on the technical aspects of his art. He has also shown the capability to use the pantyhose/sash he wears as a weapon.

The style originated in China, and is a knock off of Kolin Ch'uan, which roughly translated means "hapless hand" or, more obviously, Empty Fist Kung Fu. The style is similar to its forebearer, which is a primarily defense oriented style, focusing on rapid evasions and guards. However, there are differences: Kolin Ch'uan works with rapid counterattacks meant to annoy and anger an opponent, whereas Mien Ch'uan practitioners rely on waiting until their opponent has tired themselves out, and _then_ beginning their counter-strikes.

Also, the attitudes of the styles differ: both are circular "anything goes" styles (ie, no move is forbidden in combat, rather like Ranma's Jujitsu-like style); however, Mien Ch'uan takes it to extremes. Kolin says any martial arts move is valid, but Mien says anything is valid, from psychological warfare to hidden weapons (though relying on weapons is frowned upon even among the most honourless users). Mien Ch'uan practitioners also tend to study opponents before combat in order to gain an advantage. The style is very rare, and today there are probably less thanfifty masters world-wide. These masters will only teach students with the right attitude...which is essentially someone with no morals whatsoever, who is willing to do anything to win.

The moves are mostly resolved around punches, and several devestating strikes are used; like the fore-knuckle fist, which hits with the knuckles formed from your fingers instead of the natural ones where they connect with the hand. Another is the duo-knuckle fist, which is the same as a foreknuckle except that the user extends two knuckles forward and hits with them. Both are very hard-hitting, but both also have more risk to the user as they may break their fists if not careful. Kicks are rare since Mien Ch'uan relies on being in close (so they expend the minimum amount of effort dodging), but they are not unheard of, especially when on the defensive. Flying kicks and aerial manuveurs are practically non-existant. They just don't goin for drop kicks and such, not even to get into range, preferring to use speed to close on the ground.

(Note: yes, this means Ranma would have the advantage in mid-air combat, but the point is essentially moot as Tarou won't get into the air unless it is absolutely necessary.)

Tarou is faster than Ranma. This is shown several times, in both the anime and manga. He also has a very high level on endurance.
