Hikaru no Ghei
Or Why the Fashion Police Need to Beat Up Takeshi Obata

Warning!

This site makes fun of Hikaru no Go and its characters. It also makes use of the word "gay" and makes shallow assumptions about the sexuality of the characters. If any of this offends you, it is in your best interest to go away.

Introduction

I have a very special love/hate relationship with Hikaru no Go. I love to hate it. As a matter of fact I enjoy hating it so much that sometimes I yell at the manga as I read it. Because I take such great pleasure in ranting at this manga I have created this page purely as a forum for my rants.

So why do I take such pleasure in hating this manga? Well, other than the fact that I hate the game of go, it's simple: Hikaru no Go is about the biggest bunch of nancy-boys you'll ever see in a shounen manga. And it shows in how they dress. The artist, Takeshi Obata, lacks a decent sense of style when he draws characters. He managed to prove this in Ayatsuri Sakon by making the title character look like a gay gothy version of Aoshi from Ruroni Kenshin. In Hikaru no Go he outdoes himself, and almost every character not only violates fashion laws but should not be allowed to dress themselves.
