He stepped out of the Gate and checked himself for injuries. "I haven't been destroyed!" he thought to himself. He then checked his sockets. Something was missing. He wasn't sure what was gone until he scanned his memory. Atropos' Ribbon was gone!
When he and the others had destroyed Lavos, the fabric of time was affected; everything he and the others had done after 1999 A.D. now had never happened. The destruction of Mother and the meeting with Atropos had never occurred. Robo knew this. But then how could he have gotten fixed if Lucca had never gone back in time to fix him, and how could he remember everything that had happened? This whole time travel process confused him, so he decided to just not think about it.
Robo looked around. This place was a high-tech version of Leene's Square. Now, though, the name of the square was Nadia's Square; he wondered when the name change took place. Robo then looked at the huge variety of stands, most of which were selling food, a few selling jewelry, and some selling other miscellaneous items.
The stand he was most interested in though was one that sold "mapchips." The merchant explained it to be a microchip that contains a world map. Robo bought one with some GP he got from Crono (the currency here never changes!) When he bought one the chip seller gave him a baffled look. Where is that robot's master?
Robo placed the chip in a port on his arm and searched it. He found that there was more land and more domes than there were before Lavos. The domes of Proto, Arris, and Bangor were still standing. There was now an entire graveyard centered around Toma's Grave containing the bodies of the great heroes. A teleport stood just south of the Arris Dome that would teleport you to any building on the planet. However, there was not a teleport for Geno Dome.
Robo knew this was a very productive time. Not only would the humans be more productive than before Lavos, but the robots would be too, including Mother. She would be much harder to destroy this time around. He also knew that Lavo's destruction would not affect her intentions, which is to study and destroy human life. And Atropos would not be as easy to turn back to the human's side. His next stop was Geno Dome.
Robo was about to leave the square when two (human) guards got in his way. They had no armor, but were protected by a transparent force field. Robo could hear a noise humming from the field. A belt of laser guns and other state-of-the-art weapons ran around their waists.
The first guard lifted Robo and asked, "Where is your master?"
Robo felt like hitting himself, but the other guard handcuffed him before he could. "I should have got a person to act as my master!" he thought to himself. He tried to remember his master before Lavos was destroyed, but the only person that was close to a master whom he could remember was Lucca. He replied, "I have no master."
"What? Are you KIDDING me?!" the first guard yelled, "LISTEN!! If you don't tell me the name of your master, we're going to go sell you for parts! Not that an outdated R-Series would be worth much anyway."
Great. Now that Robo was going to go to Geno Dome to destroy Mother, and hopefully save mankind, this army-mouthed guard and his apprentice stands in his way. Robo thought about breaking free, but the guard would shoot him down with his stun gun, and that wouldn't look good on his resumé for helping out the humans. There was no crowd building up; this type of thing probably happens all the time. However the mapchip seller glanced over in Robo's direction; he was obviously the snitch.
"He's not talking. Let's bring him in," the first guard said to his apprentice, "I just LOVE catching renegade robots."
The second guard started shoving Robo out of the square until a woman's voice called, "Wait!"
Both guards and Robo turned to look at the woman, but almost as soon as Robo did, he was blinded. Robo scanned his circuits and found a virus in the mapchip. NOBODY was trustworthy now, especially that merchant. He simply listened in to the conversation.
"This is my robot!" said the woman. Robo thought that the voice sounded strong enough to make her sound like one who had influenced the world. He started scanning his memory to try to match up the voice.
The army-mouthed guard said, "Show me your proof."
Robo imagined the woman taking out her "proof," which she did.
One of the guards said, "OK. Just keep a better eye on your 'bot here. Next time, he might not be so lucky." Robo was uncuffed by the second guard. Hearing the guards' footsteps leave the square, he ripped out the mapchip so he could see again.
"Thank you for your help." Robo started, but he soon noticed that the woman was gone. The voice analysis was ready now. Her name was... "General Protection Fault at module OD64-D96DL" (don't you just hate it when that happens?)
Robo bought an Anti-Virus chip as soon as he could which removed the virus from the mapchip. Much to his surprise the mapchip wasn't a fraud; it was a real world map. He took a road to the teleport.
The teleport had several different teleports in it that went to different places like Bangor Dome and the Proto Factory. Each teleport looked like the portals at the End of Time. The sides of the room were a bronze colored metal. Sure enough, Robo couldn't find a Geno Dome teleport, but then how do robots get to and from the mainland?
People started staring at him. He didn't want another incident, so he walked over to a corner so he could (artificially) think. Now, how do Mother's robots get over to this side?
A sudden clanging noise from below startled him. Robo looked down and found an air duct, in which there was a woman's figure standing in the shadows. She glanced at Robo and vanished. From where she was standing a blue teleport appeared. The Geno Dome teleport.
After Robo had stealthily entered the duct he appeared outside the Geno Dome. However, the Geno Dome wasn't a dome anymore, but a tower. It would take Robo the sneak of an ST-Series to get just to the second level. If he was at the peak of it, then he would be able to see so far that he probably wouldn't need a mapchip.
"Well, I better get going," Robo said to himself.
He approached the two robot GU-Series guards at the door and asked them to let him in. When they rejected, Robo triggered his Area Bomb technique. "I guess an R-Series can take down a pair of GU-Series," he said to the broken down guards.
No sooner than he said that did a SHRILLING alarm go off. In an attempt to hide he darted behind a machine in the main level of the tower. GUs started swarming the room, searching everywhere. Fortunately, none of the GUs could find him. Unfortunately, it was an R-Series that did. His apprehender was wearing a ribbon...
"Atropos!" Robo exclaimed as soon as he was caught.
"Prometheus! How DARE you defy Mother! She has asked me to... personally... destroy you." Atropos took out a taser and put it to Robo's head. Robo tried to run away but the GUs blocked his path. There was a loud clank as he fell to the floor.
Robo's eyes opened slowly. He opened up his stomach port and found a GreenDream. He was working on a second one ever since he had made the first one. It must have been finished just before he entered the Geno Dome. It kept him alive, but Robo knew it only works once.
He was no longer in the main room, but in Mother's Room. This must be the top floor. Mother would always want the top floor.
He could see Atropos looking away from him. Mother appeared in front of Atropos. Robo overheard their conversation.
"What shall I do with him now that he is destroyed?" asked Atropos.
"Disassemble his parts and make sure that they are never found."
"Yes, Mother."
Atropos was about to raise Robo's body, thinking he was shutdown. Robo then yelled, "Rocket Punch!" His fist popped out and hit Atropos. The force made her fly across the room, into the wall, and fall onto the floor. Atropos was no longer in working condition, but she could be reactivated.
"YOU!" Mother yelled, "You can never defeat me! You do not have your human friends this time!"
Robo was confused, "Wait, the destruction of Lavos made it so we never fought you. How could you know about my friends?"
"Ha! You puny robot! You underestimate my strength! My vast power over the world gave me the ability to experience all time changes, even ones unknown by you. I do not know how or why this works, it just does. It just a natural phenomenon. Lavos was the only extreme world power who did not experience this. And now here I am telling you my secrets. No matter, you shall be obliterated now!"
Mother transformed herself into an enormous, stronger version of herself. Her eyes changed to a flaming red, her smile growing bigger until it looked horrifying and her canine teeth were showing. Her head was about to hit the roof at her full height; her fingers grew out sharp claws. Now, she was just hideous.
"Shock!" Robo yelled. A prism of electricity zapped through the room.
"Oh, ouch, that really hurt," Mother said in a sarcastic, and much deeper tone, "I'll show you what really hurts."
Mother then picked up Robo and squeezed him with her gigantic hands. "You ARE a puny robot. Now you will die!"
She squeezed him harder. Robo had to use techniques just to slow her down, but that was all he could do, slow her down. Some of his nuts and bolts fell to the floor. "I'll never give up!" he said.
"HAhahahahaha!" Mother laughed.
CRAAASSSHHHH!! BOOOOOMMMMM!!
Mother and Robo looked to the right. The right wall got a hole blasted through it by a laser. Epoch flew through the hole and blasted another laser. The laser hit Mother's arm that was holding Robo, causing Mother to lose her grip on Robo, making the robot fall to the ground and land safely.
Epoch landed near the blasted wall. Crono, Marle, and Lucca jumped out of it. "Thank goodness we never took out these lasers Dalton installed!" Lucca said. The laser seemed to stun Mother, so Lucca continued saying, "We saw the glow from your Shock, so we knew you were in trouble."
"Come on Lucca! Let's go!" Marle said as she and Lucca ran out of door and downstairs through the tower. Crono and Robo were left to fend Mother off.
"Where are they going?" Robo asked, but Crono didn't reply.
Mother came out of the daze. Robo turned toward Mother and yelled, "Max Cyclone!" Crono brandished his sword and Robo picked him up and swung Crono around at Mother so that the sword sliced through Mother. She countered by sending lighting bolts from her hands at the two.
Mother yelled, "Ha! Even with your weak, pathetic friends you cannot defeat me! Hahahahaha!"
Robo felt something strange inside him. A virus! He executed the Anti-Virus program to destroy it, but when the program was finished it said that no virus was detected. It must be a stealth virus!
Lucca and Marle reentered the room Lucca said, "Mom, you're going down!"
"You and what army?!"
A swarm of robots entered the room, scattering around Mother and beating her. Mother was able to destroy a few, but there were to many. All different kinds of robots were helping them fight: GUs, STs, Rs, just to name a few. Robo and Crono helped out with techs.
Marle exclaimed, "THIS army!"
"NOOOOOOOOOO!" Mother howled. She started shaking violently. Blue lights were then beaming out of her. When the blue lights completely covered her the lights turned to red, and she vanished.
The tower started rumbling violently.
"The destruction of Mother triggered a tower-annihilation mechanism," Lucca yelled, "It's gonna explode!"
The 1000 A.D.ers ran into Epoch. Robo ran over to the stunned body of Atropos and heaved her over his shoulder. Lucca could hear the explosion starting to shoot up from the base.
Lucca hollered to Robo, "Come on!"
Robo ran to the robots that helped destroy Mother, saluted, and thanked them, even though he wasn't sure exactly what had happened. He said, "We are sorry, we do not have to room to bring you with us."
One of them replied, "It is all right. We will be destroyed in honor." This one must have just received feeling.
Marle heard the explosion reaching the mid-section of the tower. "Robo, hurry up!"
Robo heard Atropos say, "Systems reactivated. What happened?"
"No time to explain!" Robo said as he said her down on her feet.
Crono heard the explosion nearing the top. He waved for Robo to hurry.
Ignoring the stealth virus, Robo and Atropos grabbed onto the wings of Epoch. Lucca started up Epoch and lasered the left wall. She flew the Epoch through the left wall and out of the tower. The explosion reached the top and projected Epoch out into the sky.
The Geno Tower collapsed to the ground. Lucca explained to Robo how she had been creating a stealth computer virus. When Marle and her temporarily left, she uploaded it into the main controls which sent it out to all robots. She then redesigned the virus to reprogram the robot it is infected in to turn against Mother. Since Robo was already against Mother, it had no effect on him.
Robo and Atropos were dropped off at the graveyard. Lucca fixed up Robo and left in Epoch with Marle and Crono. Robo found the tombstones for Glenn, Nadia, Lucca, Ayla, and Crono. Magus was apparently not considered a "great hero." Robo hand-picked some flowers and set them on his friends' graves. The two then sat on the hill, hand in hand, and watched Epoch warp to another era.
Robo thought about the woman who helped him out twice. Who would help him out, unless there was some reason...?
