For some reason, instead of appearing on the deserted island where the Gate was on, he appeared on the island where the remaining people (not to mention Nus) of Zeal were. Somehow, this place reminded him of the wickedness of his mother, Queen Zeal, but at last, she was put to rest. He did not like being placed among the filthy Earthbound ones, but he decided that he would have to get used to it. The elder was the first to approach him.
"You are," the Elder started in his feeble old voice, "the false prophet, are you not?"
"Yes, I am," Magus responded, "I am also Queen Zeal's son."
"Janus? That's you? My how you have grown!"
"Where is my sister?"
"Schala? She never shown up after the tidal wave. The last time I heard of her being was in the Ocean Palace, but that was destroyed when Queen Zeal died..."
Magus remembered when the Black Omen went down. Nothing could survive in the Ocean Palace now that it was destroyed, and underwater... (ironic, isn't it?) Magus, though, was not one to give up so easily. Leaving the Commons in a fury, Alfador saw him and followed him. Alfador could sense the mood his Magus was in, and decided not to bother his master.
Magus decided that he must visit the ruins of the Ocean Palace. Unfortuantely though, it was too far away and on the ocean floor. Nobody on this island could swim that far, let alone that deep. If only he had a way to get there.
Blazing out of the sky, Epoch appeared, which Lucca landed right next to Magus. The trio from 1000 A.D. jumped out of it.
"Do you need any help looking for Schala?" Marle asked.
"I might," Magus replied. He then started staring at Marle's pendant. The only way it could be there in the future is if Schala had passed it down throughout the generations! Schala must still be alive! And he would have to rescue her! "I think she is in the sunken Ocean Palace."
"We'll bring you there then!" Lucca demanded, "Crono, do you mind?"
Crono shook his head.
"All right!" Lucca and Marle jumped back into Epoch. Magus picked up Alfador and strapped himself in.
The Epoch started flying through the sky. On the way there Magus said, "You know, I didn't need your help."
"Yeah, sure, and Tata can destroy Lavos with a mop without taking any damage!" Lucca said in sarcasm. Magus just ignored that remark.
Magus, Lucca, and Marle could see the Ocean Palace deep underwater. However, Epoch was not a submersible device. Marle's pendant and Magus' amulet shone even greater.
"This must be the Ocean Palace," Marle awed, "now what do we do?"
They were in deep thought on how to get down there when suddenly, a light shined on Magus. He was teleported down with Alfador into the Ocean Palace. Marle and Lucca agreed that SHE must have done something. They retrieved Crono and blasted off to another period.
Magus could see the Epoch taking off above him. Looking back down at the current level, he noticed that he was inside a part of the Ocean Palace that hadn't been destroyed. Air surrounded him. Belthsar made the walls very sturdy in this chamber, so even the destruction didn't let any water in here. There was a person, a woman, behind the shadows. At first Magus thought it was Schala, but no, it couldn't be her. Magus felt a bond between him and the woman. Somehow, he knew that she was the one that had teleported him down there. Slowly, she faded away, and the door behind her crept open.
Without any hesitation, Magus and Alfador entered the door. The next room was enormous with rubbled statues standing at the sides. It was darker than the other room and somewhat damp in this new, eerie place. A purple carpet laid down through the doorway and down the middle of the room. At the end of the carpet laid Schala, unconscious. Magus sprinted up to her with his cape flying outwards.
"Schala!" Magus yelled, "Wake up! It's me, Janus! Wake up!"
Schala opened her eyes. Magus lifted up her shoulders. Schala managed to say, "J... Janus? Is it? Y... yes, I can... sense it. You ha... have g...grown."
Magus was about to pick up her body when a noise behind them started making a "whirrrrrr"ing sound. Magus turned around to find out what the noise was coming from. However, what he had found by turning was that GolemBoss and his Golem henchmen were there, and ready to fight! But how had the GolemBoss been revived? It had been destroyed (easily) back on the Blackbird!
"You guys are nothing!" shouted Magus, "Dark Mist!"
A gray mist came from one side of the wall, went through the Golems, and disappeared on the other side. A Golem counter-attacked with Dark Bomb. The Shadow magic didn't hurt Magus much, but Schala was in extreme pain.
"Ohhhhhhh!" cried Schala, "The black wind!"
Schala cast a cure spell on herself and Magus, but she was still laying, shivering on the ground. Magus knew that another hit like that would kill her. If he attacked, or even if he did not attack, the Golems would still kill her with a Dark Bomb. Oh, how he wished the Crono, Marle, and the others were here.
Much to Magus' surprise, the mysterious woman reappeared. She was off to the side, so the Golems didn't notice her. She held two armors in her hands which she dropped on the ground in front of Magus. Again, the woman vanished before Magus could get a good look at her. He looked down at the armor and recognized it. They were two Black Mails!
He equipped one on himself and the other on Schala. He kept using Dark Mist over and over again. The Shadow Magic sent back toward Magus and Schala was used to heal the two. Luckily, the Golems were dumb enough to keep using Dark Bomb. After Magus used Dark Mist five more times, Schala had regained her strength and was back up on her feet. Magus got real bored of using Dark Mist over and over again after awhile. On around the tenth Dark Mist, the Golems perished and the GolemBoss ran away. Peace at last.
"Let's go home," Magus said.
"Yeah, let's, " Schala agreed.
"Meow!" Alfador also agreed.
They were just about to step on the teleporter leading out of the Ocean Palace when the vague figure of a person appeared. The figure was transparent and gave off an eerie chill, like a ghost. It wasn't the mysterious woman, no, it was a man. The ghost stepped out from the darkness.
"Dalton!!" Magus and Schala yelled in unison.
"Yes, I am Dalton. I am not fully alive as you see. After I was sucked into the portal on Aerial-Dalton Emperial, the energy was sucked out of me. However, I still had enough energy to revive the Golems and return in this form. Now my energy is running out. So, with my final breath, you two will die here! If I can't live, nobody can!"
Chunks of the ceiling crashed down and landed on the teleporter, destroying it. Dalton laughed a giganticly loud evil laugh, "HAAAAAAAAAhaaaahahahaha!" From the loss of all his energy, he vanished.
The floor below them started to rumble. From the ceiling, rocks were crashing down onto them. The sound of the rumbling made there voices difficult to hear.
"This place is going to collapse!" Magus yelled, "Schala, your pendant!"
"My pendant does not have enough power to let us escape!" Schala yelled back.
"MEEOOOWWW!" Alfador howled.
The boulders from the ceiling started tumbling down harder and faster. The noise in the room was getting louder and hurt their ears (especially Alfador's). Neither Magus nor Schala covered their ears, in case the other might have something to say. Dalton sure wasn't kidding!
Alfador was freaking out and running around on the floor without looking where he was going. He tripped Magus onto the floor. Magus felt a boulder fall on his back. His amulet fell out of his pocket and slid onto the floor. Fortunately, he was able to get up.
The rumbling increased and the floor shook even harder. The noise turned from unbearable to EXTREMELY unbearable. Schala yelled something, but her voice was absorbed by the falling rocks.
At Schala's right, a statue holding an ax started falling onto her. Alfador leaped on her face, claws out, and was able to get her out of the way. The ax from the statue however sliced the pendant from her neck. The pendant fell over by Magus' amulet. Schala ignored the pain caused by Alfador.
The chaos seemed to have no end. Magus could hear the other room collapse. The amulet and pendant shined even brighter. Alfador continued howling and took cover under a statue. The two dropped items seemed to be joining together. Magus reached out his hand with all his remaining strength to Schala. The roof was crumbling into pieces even more, ready to collapse onto them. Schala took Magus' hand and prayed for someone, somewhere, to help them. The joined stones seemed to grow more brighter, Magus was almost blinded now! The stones started emitting a humming noise. Alfador leaped onto Magus' shoulder and stuck his claws deep into him. A light shot out of the stones and hit the three. They disappeared. The roof collapsed onto the ground and water burst into the Palace.
They reappeared on the island among the others of Zeal. Schala's pendant and Magus' amulet reappeared with them. Alfador jumped off Magus' shoulder and ran around in the Commons.
This was the first time Magus had a good look at Schala since the black Gate had sent him to 600 A.D. Schala looked the same as she always had, well, except for the scratch marks on her face and a few bruises. The time warp process had made Magus closer to Schala's age than he was before, but Schala was still the older sister. Then, all of a sudden, for the first time he could remember, Magus burst into tears. Schala gently pressed Magus' face up against her shoulder. They didn't need words at this moment. The bond between the pendant and the amulet got them out alive...
The Elder walked out of the Commons.
"Schala?"
She nodded her head. In a few minutes, Magus sniffled and slowly, stopped crying.
The few people that were on the island were overjoyed to see Schala. Magus was praised for rescuing her. He was not paying attention to the citizens though. His mind was wondering, thinking about the odd woman at the Ocean Palace. Could she have been... ?
