New Windows
If you have plans to upgrade to Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, etc., be
sure you have the proper computer (hardware) and software. Some programs do not work in this platform
because you need new drivers to make them work. It is a pain in the neck to get the proper
configuration and sometimes we do not know where to look for them. The Windows 98 platform
works OK if you have a huge hard disk drive and new programs that are in tandem with it.
Windows with the opening of all type of small windows demands a lot of memory. I recommend
that before you jump into this platform be sure to make a serious analysis detailing
what your needs are. Make the jump to any Windows platform after you are sure that you have
good references of what you have and where you want to go. Make a wise decision taking
into account your hardware and software. Be real careful with residents programs that they
are always active looking for something and create conflicts with our main programs. I
usually turn residents programs off when doing important work to be on the safe side
because I do not trust them. Always start with the basics of any program and keep
all the information available (hardware or software) of your computer. It also help a lot
to keep notes of your findings or things that you think will need in the long run.
Sometimes using the common sense we are surprise by the things we learned by accident. I
just jumped into Windows 98 from the Windows 95, but before I assured myself
to upgrade my motherboard, memory, hard disk drive, etc. to take care of the change. So
far, so good.
I will try to include here hints that are new to my stage, what's new in general? and
what's new according to the best of my knowledge?
The market now is controlled by new operating system referring to Microsoft Corp. that are XP Home Edtion, XP Professional, and Windows Vista that is going to be the most friendly operating system of them all. Hope it is true! Vista will be available in the market early year 2007.
On the other hand, the old versions of windows have lost support from Microsoft and we have to be extreme careful when navigating the Internet because there are many hackers, viruses, and the like that will try to harm your computer. Be aware and always play on the safe side. Protect your computer from malicious action.
These pages will be in continuous construction!
