Dear Mr. Nielson,

I am sending this letter in behalf of Timothy J. Leon (C29681). When I think of Tim, I see the young bright-eyed full of life boy, who used to visit our home with his mother Patty, who is my cousin. Tim had so much potential. He was a quite well mannered little man. And I thought then that some day he should and would grow into a man to make his parents proud. His parents, grandparents, and great grandparents are and were, everyone God fearing, honest, and hard working people. The kinds of people who have helped make this country what it is today. This was his background and environment.

I was unable to be at Tim's trial as I had a court case of my own pending being Chief Investigator for the S. P. C. A., it was a busy time for me. However, was kept up to date.

Possibly, it was due to Tim's upbringing and his sense of right and wrong, justice and injustice. That and his immaturity in his selection of so called friends that fed on his gullibility that led up to that fateful day. It is also my understanding these two friends were no strangers to the legal system. They were the ones who initiated the attack. When it got out of control, his friends in trouble, Tim out of fear and a misplaced sense of loyalty came to their aid but went too far. Tim has never denied what he did. And it will haunt him the rest of his days. Tim has given his life to our Lord and asked for His forgiveness.

I am sure that if Tim's record were reviewed, from the time he was incarcerated up to this day and time, it would be found with no blemishes, and that he has done nothing, but to try and improve himself. I truly and sincerely feel that Tim deserves a chance to become the man that he showed so much promise of becoming when just a boy at his mother's side.

Sincerely,

Donald H. Pugh
