Lime Kiln The lime kiln was used to prepare the quarried limestone to be used in the blast furnace as well as providing ingredients for things like mortar and plaster. This kiln has obviously undergone serious restoration recently as there are new pressurized lumber timbers and a steel roof similar to the new roofs on the processing buildings.


1999 pic of lime kiln This is the original 1999 picture from this page, you can see that there is no roof and the upper portion of the kiln is crumbling. Unfortunately due to the poor color quality of the picture I cannot tell much about where the timbers are in the 2005 picture.
