A shot of the Superintendent's house at Fayette. The superintendent was responsible for the operations at Fayette and thus deserved a home to reflect that stature. One of the nicknames of this structure was "the white house" which was a reflection of the occupant's power in town.
Another shot of the "white house." This elevation directly faces the cliffs on the other side of the harbor. Of course, as powerful as the superintendent was, in this era before indoor plumbing he still had need of an outhouse, which is in the far right of the picture.:)
