* TimN's View on the Fremantle Dockers *

--------------------------------------------------------------

The Fremantle Dockers had their first season in the AFL in 1995. Since that time, the astounding skills of their players have made them a force to be reckoned with, as their record of finishing 13th, 13th, 12th, 15th, 15th, 12th and 16th clearly shows. Fremantle are a great club. Where else would Shane Parker get a game?

Last season was not a particularly successful one for the Dockers, as they managed to win only two games in the regular season, plus one pre-season game. Normally I wouldn't count the Ansett Cup games, but when it increases the number of wins from 2 to 3, its worth it.

As would be expected with that kind of return, a lot of chanes have occurred at the Dockers. Damian Drum was sacked as coach midway through last year, and club stalwart BenAllan took over for the rest of the season. Unlike most coaches in his position BenAllan was adamant that he was not the man for the job, and didn't want it this year. In the end Freo appointed Chris Connelly to the job. Also new is the CEO, Cameron Schwab.

There have been some big changes to the on-field personnel as well. The big name signing over the summer were the ex-Dirtiest Man in Football and now Golden Child, Jeff Farmer, from Melbourne and Trent Croad from Hawthorn. Among those who were shown the door and never to pull on a Freo jumper again, unless they turn out really well like Belly did, were Daniel Bandy and Adrian Fletcher. Previous contender for Golden Child status, Tony Modra, also left, but by retiring rather than being sacked, making him about the second Docker (with BenAllan) to actually retire.

Anyway, the list below is a summary of the fixtures and results for the Fremantle Dockers for the year 2002. More in-depth reviews of some of the games are also available. I also have review for some matches from 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001.
