TimN's View on the Fremantle Dockers
The Fremantle Dockers had their first season in the AFL in 1995. Since
that time, the astounding skills of their players have made them a
force to be reckoned with, as their record of finishing 13th, 13th,
12th, 15th, 15th and 12th clearly shows. Fremantle are a great club.
Where else would Shane Parker get a game?
Last year the whole season was moved forward a few weeks so that the
Grand Final wouldn't clash with the Olympics. Whether that was a big
Channel 7 conspiracy, or just good sense on the part of the AFL, I'll
leave to you to decide. The net result is that we were without
footy for even longer than usual over summer. That gave some of the
struggling clubs a bit of extra time to sort themselves out. As the
results show, Fremantle used this extra time particularly well, with a
great return of one win from their first ten matches.
The Dockers big signing over the summer was Peter Bell, returning
to the Dockers fold from a stint with North Melbourne. In hindsight
it might have been better if the Dockers had never let him go, but thats
a different story. Actually, in my personal opinion, he's not the
player the Dockers need at this stage, but I hope it all works out
well.
Anyway, the list below is a summary of the fixtures and results
for the Fremantle Dockers for the year 2001. More in-depth reviews of
some of the games are also available. I also have review for some
matches from 1997,
1998, 1999 and
2000.
