In the collection of nineteenth century Roman Jewish Music of the synagogue, some composers appear as prominent ones. These are Amadio Di Segni (6 Pieces), Settimio Battaglia (2 pieces), Ublado Borghini (2 pieces) and Enrico Rolland (2 pieces).
It is interesting to note that the most prominent scuola in the collection is the Scuola Siciliana.
The time of these pieces is a time of change in the history of Italy and its Jews - the time of the Risorgimento. There is to be found for example Psalm 21 (Box 1 No. 14) for the entrance of the Savoy king to Rome.
This shows that the musicians of the synagogue were also reacting to their current socio-political events and not just composing ancient texts for the rite of the synagogue.
In the collection there appears also a stamp of the "society for music practice" suggesting an educational framework for the study of music besides the scuole was active at that time.
