Amnon and Tamar - Opera

Excerpts

The fifth (and last) act opens with the feast at Absalon's place in the countryside. The guest's arrive as the striper's dance [Play], progresses. The words of the dance are a mockery of Tamar, portraying her as one which intended to become a queen. The following scene opens with the festivity of the feast [Play] at Absalon's place. Absalon orders his lads to fill up Amnon's and his followers' glasses until they become drunk. At this point he orders his lads to take out their knives and stab him. Silence prevails until it is broken by Absalon's request for the dancer to return. She does return and repeats her dance: the striper's second dance [Play], Yet this times it ends with a question. The act ends with a scene in which the eagles feast [Play] over Amnon's body.

In the ending scene king David has a dialogue [Play] with his court historian over the events as the news of Amnon's death arrives.

The curtain is lowered as the final choir [Play] sings ironically of the events of the opera.

Jonathan Lesser - The Domino Ensemble (www.domino.co.il) I've listened to the disc and it sounds good!
I particularly like the oriental factor in the music.
