Arts are a way through which we can get over the first three states in which reality is divided by Nicolai Hartmann (see Science) and reach the soul.
The soul cannot directly communicate by logic and has a way of expression in arts. So we, in order to voice our feelings, must not only study or gaze at art works, but have to practice in at least one of them, just as for sake of our bodies must practice in one sport at least.
I approached this form of art in museums, during my "pianist trips" through Italy in my childhood, and continued with
school, when I developed in art history and learned some painting technique. Now I take my brushes only occasionally,
mostly with water colours.
My favorite artists are Giotto (especially his last works) Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Degas, Van Gogh, and Dal
I never tried sculpture, but I appreciate mostly some "kouros" of Greek Ionic artists, Michelangelo works, Bernini,
Canova and Dal
I love very elaborate styles and the early gothic, together with Baroque and Liberty are my favorites in architecture. I like mostly Bernini and Gaud/A> ( e.g. Sagrada Familia).
My lacunas in extra-European works are vast, so I have much to learn more, and any suggestion is appreciated, so mail me please.
Even if at night I prefer reading a good book in spite of watching television, I manage to see some movies, especially at
cinema. While my brother adore French movies, my favorites are the English ones, maybe because of their calm and
serenity even in dramas, and James Ivory , together with Kurosawa, is my best director.
A part form these I like very much also Science fiction (star trek and star wars as best) and adventure and action movies,
not to talk of old Hollywood musicals.
Here is a list of my favorites:
Indiana Jones and the last crusade
Indiana Jones and the temple of doom
Rosencrantz and Guilderstein are dead
Star Trek III The Search for Spock
Star Trek V The Final Frontier
Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country
