Pallet Town

    Pallet Town is your home town.  It's where you start your game.  It's such a huge town too, what having three homes and two families living in it.  Your house is sort of the Pokemon Center of this town.  Your mom will let you rest which will heal your Pokemon.  In Gary's house you get the map from his sister so don't miss it.  It can be helpful.  The large building his Prof. Oak's lab. 

Pallet Town Walkthrough

  You start your game in your house, in your room.  You can't do anything yet until you try to leave the town in the north.  Oak will stop you and bring you to his lab YELLOW: Oak catches a Pikachu also.  He'll talk for a little bit then offer you the choice of one of three Pokemon.  Choose whichever you want.   Gary, your rival, is also there and he will get a Pokemon as well.  YELLOW: In Pokemon yellow, you don't get to choose, Gary takes the only Pokeball available and Oak gives you Pikachu.
    When you try to leave the lab Gary fights you for the first time.   After the battle Oak asks you to get somethig for him from Viridian. Head north through Route 1 to Viridian.

Route 1

    Until you deliver Oak's pakage you can't catch any Pokemon yet.  Just head north.  The two people in this area won't fight you but one will give you an item.  Later you should return here to catch a Pidgey and a Rattata, available in abundance in both games.

Viridian City

    This is your first major stop in the game.  The Pokemon center is the first building you'll encounter.  If you still need to deliver Oak's package head to the item shop.  The attendant will give you Oak's pakage and you should deliver it imediately.

    Back in Pallet town after delivering Oak's pakage, he will give both you and Gary a Pokedex.  This will keep track of all the Pokemon you have captured and seen.  One objective in the game is to complete your Pokedex.   Be sure to pick up the map in Gary's house also, then head back to Viridian city.

Viridian Pokemart

    There isn't much to do in Veridian city.  You should be sure to stock up on Pokeballs.  As you head north a man will stop you and show you how to catch Pokemon.  Later after you have learned the cut ability, you can get the Dream Eater TM from the man to the SW.  The gym is closed and you'll have to return later to face the final gym leader.  

From here you can head west to route 22 to face Gary again, but eventually you'll have to head north to Route 2 and the Viridian Forest.
