It's long tail serves as a ground to protect itself from its own high voltage power.

Being much larger and less cute than it's devolve form Pikachu this mouse is much less popular.  It is somewhat more powerful however.  If you prefer a powerful electric Pokémon for battleing as opposed to a cute pet, use a Thunder stone to make Pikachu evolve into Raichu.
