For a brief description of what Pokemon is click here.

Pokemon Pinball
7-6-99

Pokemon Pinball should be out in stores now.  It doesn't require Color Gameboy to play either.  It features two different tables, Red and Blue, and the ability to catch the Pokemon just like in the reguler game.    To catch Pokemon they will appear on the screen and ou have to follow a series of steps and hit certain targets until it is yours.  You can also make them evolve.  Plus you can check out all the information on the Pokemon you have caught in the Pokedex, which features a new look from the Red and Blue games.  The pack also features several mini games and a build in rumble pack.  Unfortunately you can't trade Pokemon out of ht epinball game and into a normal version of the game.

Pokemon Snap Release Date
5-26-99

I just figured I would say that a sign at my local Toys R Us said they would have Pokemon Snap in stock on July 27th.  So if you're waiting for this one you can mark you calenders.

Pokemon Snap
5-12-99

Nintendo Power recently had and article on Pokemon Snap for the Nintendo 64.  I'l have to scan some of them so the rest of you people can see what this game is going to look like.  It look's prety nice, though I think I would still rather catch Pokemon than just take pictures of them.

Pokemon Pinball
4-28-99

The next game for gameboy featuring pokemon will be a pinball game called, Pokemon Pinball.  This game will feature levels themed for different Pokemon and different types of Pokemon.  The ball will be a Pokeball.   Also this will be the first Game Boy game to feature a "Rumble Pak" like feature.  This will be a device similar to that used in the rumble pack build into the game pak.  It will react to the game the same way a rumble pak reacts for the N64.

Pokemon Snap
4-28-99

In a recent episode of Pokemon, Ash and pals ran into a kid who liked to photograph Pokemon.  The first US Pokemon game for the N64 will feature this kid as the star.  In Pokemon snap, instead of trying to catch all the Pokemon in Pokeballs, you have to catch them all on film.  You have to search all over an island of Pokemon and try to get photos of them in thier natural habitat.   This game will be in full 3D like most of the N64 games, which means you can see all your favorites in a new way.

Pokemon Yellow
2-15-99

Recently I have been playing Pokemon Yellow.  Yellow is the fourth version of the game to be released in Japan.  I've herd it refered to as both the TV version and the Pikachu Version.  As you may guess your starting Pokemon is Pikachu.  So far I've only played up to leaving Viridian city.  It's basically the same game and story.  I have read however that it is possible to catch ALL the Pokemon in the yellow version and you get to fight the *REAL* team rocket.  I'm guessing that means Jessie, James and Meowth.  It would be cool if they did but I doubt Misty and Brock join you.
Differences so far:

The beggining sequence where Genger is fighting the Clefairy or whatever it is, has been replaced by a sequence featuring Pikachu.  Pikachu runs towards you as the imag cuts out regularly to show Pikachu doing a flying kick, then surfing, then flying with some baloons until it cuts to Pikachu close up releasing a Thundershock.

On the title screen, the little picture of Ash with the 'rotating' Pokemon pictures has been replaced by a large image of Pikachu.  The title reads "Pocket Monsters: Pikachu".  Note Pokemon is short for Pocket Monsters and all the Japanese titles read this.  It's not a name change.

As you first try to leave the town and Prof. Oak stops you a Pikachu attacks and Oak catches it.

In Oak's lab there is only one Pokeball available to choose from instead of three.   When you go to pick it up, Gary takes it from you leaving you with nothing.   Oak then gives you the Pikachu.  (I assume this is the same Pikachu Oak just caught.)

Gery's Pokemon is an Eevee.

It also may be my imagination, but I believe the Spearows look different.  And I don't mean slightly, I mean a lot different. They look smaller and stand in a different position.

Probably the coolest difference.  Pikachu follows your character around on the screen.  When you go to a Pokemon Center, he jumps up on the counter with the Pokeballs.

I have heard that this version of the game will be released in the US sometime this year.

Pokemon 2?
2-15-99

To be relesed in Japan are two new Pokemon games, Gold and Silver.  These games will feature a new story, new charachters and 250 total Pokemon.  All Pokemon from the older verion may be transfered to the Gold and Silver games however the Pokemon are not backwardly compatible, meaning Gold and Silver Pokemon can't be traded to Red, Blue, Green or Yellow Pokemon games.    Also I read that it will be possible to breed Pokemon and all types will have male and femal types.

Thanks to Flametounge for the following list of posible Pokemon in the new games.

houou    togepy    pikablu     tyranticus    primator    doomsay        doomsday    psyke     wizwar    nidogod

I'll post new info on this as I find it.

Other Pokemon Games
2-15-99

Available also in Japan is Poket Monsters Stadium for the N64.  All the game is is battleing but it uses the N64's 3D graphics capabilities to make all the Pokemon three- dimensional.  It's supposed to be possible to use the Pokemon you have captured from your Game Boy pak on this game through the controller pack slot.  From the pictures I have seen it looks pretty cool.  That was from Nintindo online in Japan, whitch is hard to get around unless you can read Japanese.   Note: it's also hard to play Pokemon Yellow unless you can read Japanese.

Also there is a color Game Boy title available of a Pokemon card Game.I get the impression that this is somewhat based on the CCG now available.  I haven't played this game much because it isn't very fun and because I don't have the time to translate everything to english.
