Tenchi was a typical high-school student who spent summer vacations training
in martial arts at a shrine in the mountains run by his grandfather. As
the series progresses, more is discovered about Tenchi's past, and his
relation to the samurai who defeated the Oni (Japanese demon) 700 years
ago. He is a bit timid at first, but grows less timid and much stronger
as the series progresses.
In the OAV series, he is "killed" in OAV 5, He is rescued by Tsunami, and is rebuilt. He faces Kagato again, and defeats Kagato by Generating Light Hawk Wings.There have been many heated debates over who Tenchi will marry. The creators of Tenchi Muyo! have been very careful to keep the status of each relationship even.Tenchi is very shy and the victim of emotional strain brought upon by the constant quarrelling amongst the other lady characters in this anime series. Tenchi is a part of the Jurai Royal blood line. When Princess Ayeka learns this bit of information, she feels that it is their right, as Royalty, to be together as a couple. The feud between Ryoko and Ayeka adds more fun and excitement in the Tenchi Muyo Universe Series. Yep! Both of them are fighting for his love....
Tenchi's voice actor for the Japanese OAV is Kikuchi Masami (who also did Keiichi in Aa! Megami-sama (Oh! My Goddess)), and for the English dub is M. "Kermit" Miller.
