From: Russell Watanabe Subject: Re: Miramax Mononoke trailer spotted Thanks, Andrew, for reposting that usenet message. I went straight to the mall after work to check out the trailer for myself. (Screenzone Interactive booth at the Del Amo Mall in Southern California) The trailer was very well done. Very professional looking and very dramatic. A few of my comments to add: * The film was categorized as Art/Foreign by Screenzone * The Miramax banner was displayed at the beginning, so it's definitely not being distributed under the Dimension label. * Yeah, Mr. Voice did have trouble pronouncing Mononoke. I think he also pronounced Miyazaki as Mi-yah-zah-kay. I predict everyone having trouble with pronunciation. * "One of the most influential filmmakers of all time". At least Miramax is trying to build up awareness of Miyazaki's name. * The cast list was given in alphabetical order. * Great music :) The image was heavily MPEGed, so it showed up kind of blocky. Still, the animation is very beautiful (I haven't seen the movie yet). You could tell right away that it isn't some low-quality Disney knock-off like Quest for Camelot or some such. It's also much nicer than that awful trailer for Iron Giant with the heavy metal music. There are a lot of good action scenes. Hopefully it will get a good response from the lucrative 13-24 year old market, because it should. I can't wait to see the trailer on the big screen. Can't wait to see the movie, too.
