This Neon Genesis Evangelion for the Sega Saturn was the first of the 4 games released for the system.  This game was a side-story of Evangelion "never before seen".  According to the booklet, the story happens right after Asuka lands on Japan with Evangelion Unit 02 (this is before the Angel that could split up).  A new kind of Angel attacks Tokyo-3.  An Angel that could turn itself into a living shield and whose main weapon are 2 long range laser beams that can cut through the AT Field. 

The story starts out with Shinji loosing to this new Angel.  Thus, he was ordered by Misato to go back to training to maximize his Evangelion for the next battle. Shinji must be able to complete his training and defeat this new Angel.  At the same time, as an added sub-plot, Touji, Shinji and Kensuke are looking for a possible singer for their school band.  Their choices have been reduced to three people: Asuka, Rei and Hikari. 

This game runs on 1 CD and well, is the front runner for Evangelion 2nd Impression.  This game is more on the side of being an interactive movie rather than a true adventure game.
