| Other than hand-held combat, the Evangelions are also equipped
with weaponry to help them defeat the Angels. These weapons with
the help of the Evangelion's AT Field can destroy the Angel's core thereby
causing the Angel's destruction.

| Pulsitron Rifle. The Pulsitron Rifle uses charged ion particles to create a beam of mass destruction. Although each Evangelion unit has a Pulsitron Rifle, NERV opted that they use an experimental version of the Pulsitron Rifle in Episode 5-6 because of the Angel's immensely powerful AT Field. This special rifle uses more than 185,000 kilowatts to operate at full capacity. | ||

Lance of Longinus. A giant spiral-shaped spear which can
penetrate A.T.Field. The spear splits into two branches at the one end,
but these two branches will recombine into one when the spear is thrown
against an object and penetrates it.
The spear was first used during the battle against the 15th Angel. It destroyed the Angel on a satellite orbit. However the spear itself reached the Moon and became unretrivable. That said, the real use of the Spear is not meant to be a weapon. It seems that it is a necessary item in the Complementation Plan which uses Lilith. By the way, Longinus was the name of the soldier who used his spear
to pierce Jesus who was being crucified on cross.
The spear is stored as a relic by the St.Augustine Church in Rome.

Progressive Knife or Prog-Knife. This is a vibrating blade made up of a special alloy which makes the blade very sharp. This the most common weapon used by the Evangelion and this is located in the shafts above the arms. EVA02 uses a new cutter-type knife -- even if the blade is broken, a new blade will come out from the back by pushing a button, making the knife useable again. | |

Palette Rifles. Used mainly by Evangelion Unit 01, these are the normal rifles used in battle. At the first kinds of Angels, the rifle was the weapon of choice for all Evangelions. However, they proved pretty useless in destroying the Angel in all but one occasion: the acid drooling Angel. | |

Pistol. The pistol was seen in one episode only and also proved to be very useless. This pistol was used against the Angel with the inverted AT Field, however with the limited firepower of the gun, Shinji was not able to destroy it. | |

Shuttle Shield. Used by Evangelion Unit 00 in Episode 6, the Shuttle Shield has a layer or protective shielding which helps it withstand 17 seconds of Pulsitron Rifle discharge. The Shuttle Shield name was used since the shield was really the underside of a pre-Second Impact shuttle craft used for space travel. | |

Axe. Used by Evangelion Unit 02 during episode 18, this axe looks like your ordinary axe, however it can chop through virtually anything. | |

Spear. Used mainly by Unit 02, this weapon was used during the Angel that could split up. Putting Asuka's mistake aside, the spear is a capable weapon that could be used against the Angel, however with the development of the axe, the spears were never seen again. | |
