The day begins like the one before.  Shinji cooks the breakfast and Misato lazily walks out of her bed room and "brainlessly" chows down the food plus some beer.  This is becoming more and more disturbing to Shinji, who is accustomed to a clean way of life.

     "I think I can understand why you're still single."

     "Well, excuse me for being lazy."

     "You're a slob too--"

     Shinji and Misato head for work.  Shinji heads to the harmonics laboratory to check on his synch rate progress.  Misato heads to Gendo and receives a message that she and Ritsuko will be representing NERV at a special conference in Tokyo-2.

     The next day, Misato gets up early and heads to NERV headquarters and is greeted by Ritsuko.  They are suppposed to attend the celebration of the completion of the JA (Jet Alone) Project, a humanoid fighting machine developed by the Joint Heavy Chemical Industry Organization of Japan.  The JA is the contending prospect to replace the Evangelions who are suffering from uncontrolable "berserks".  

     However, during the JA's test it too goes out of control and could not be stopped.  Running with a nuclear power-source, JA heads towards a populated part of the city.  With the amount of nuclear power capacity that JA has, a single melt-down incident could wipe out the whole city.

     After some consulation, Misato receives authorization to stop JA with a password and with the help of Eva 01 and its pilot Shini Ikari.  Misato orders Shinji to try to stall for time while she cimbs aboard JA and tries to stop the meltdown from the inside.

     Shinji does what he is told to do and Misato is able to enter JA through a maintenance hatch.  While inside, Misato looks for the terminal to stop the meltdown.  Shinji on the other hand warns Misato that a possible melt-down could happen in minutes or even seconds.

     Misato finds the terminal and inputs the password: HOPE.  An error message pops out.  JA is only moments away from exploding.

     "Misato! Get out of there!"

     At the last moment...JA shuts down.  It was a planned miracle.  Misato sensed it.  Back at NERV headquarters, Misato and Unit 01 begin de-contamination precedures.  

     "Did it work?"

     "Aside from the part where Misato interrupted, yes it did."

     The next day, Misato wakes up the same as usual going to work.  It's going to be another fine day.  Shinji walks to school with Touji and Kensuke...

     "Misato is such a babe..."

     "Yeah, I though so too, but she's such a slob."
 
     "I envy you, Shinji."

     "She lets you see an aspect of her that people like us never get to see.  That means you are her family."
