| The Evangelion Unit 01
has been launched with Shinji Ikari as the pilot. Although this is his
first time being a pilot, Shinji understands that people have already put
their trust in him and he must perform to defend Tokyo-3 and NERV. However,
Shinji wakes up from a hospital bed, as if nothing happened. Was it a dream?
After Shinji was cleared out of NERV's hospital facilities, Shinji volunteers to live alone (as much as possible away from his father), showing how Shinji has already been accustomed to life alone and without anyone caring. However, Misato volunteers to let Shinji stay at her apartment. After a short celebration, it was off to beat and during Shinji's first night, he mutters the words: "Another unfamilar ceiling…" Shortly thereafter, Shinji falls asleep and remembers everything that happened to him on his first day at NERV. He remembers his Evangelion being launched. How he fell to the ground. How the Angel picked him up like a rag doll, being slammed at the face with a sort of energy weapon. Shinji does not move. He couldn't move. He is shocked. He feels his arm getting broken. It was the nerve connection. It was his Evangelion. "Eva damaged. Rescue of the pilot is impossible. Status of the pilot is unknown." Suddenly, the Eva became silent. And then… "It's going out of control!" Evangelion Unit 01 starts to move again - the berserker. At incredible speed and agility, the Evangelion quickly overpowers the Angel. The Angel was crushed upon he Eva's overwhelming power. The movement of the Evangelion was like that of a wild beast. As the Angel explodes in balls of flames, the Eva walks out, showing its true form hidden under the metal armor. "This is the true form of
the Evangelion."
