"It's been fifteen years…" - Fuyutski  

     The United Nations Military tries its best to stop the huge creature that had appeared, but the resistance proves to be futile. Even the N2 Mine, which was their last card, is useless against the rampaging Angel. At the same time, a boy arrives at Nerv's Headquarters. Shinji Ikari, a fourteen year old - the son of Gendo Ikari, the supreme commander of Nerv.  Nerv's magnificent secret base reveals itself to him, it's enormous size and complexity amazes Shinji.  Nerv was design to withstand Angel attack even without outside help.  This is mankind's last battlefield.  This is Tokyo-3.  However, this wasn't the pride and joy of Nerv.  For this is not the last hope of humanity.  Shinji is led into a dark room where he encounters the face of the Humanoid Fighting Machine known as the EVANGELION.  

     Shinji then realizes that this Evangelion was his father's work and turns around and sees his father, who he had not seen for the past three years. However, Gendo skips all the pleasantries and utters a single cold order.  

     "Father, why did you call me?"  

     "For the exact same reasons you think."  

     "Then, you mean I should get into that thing and fight that thing I saw?"  

     "Correct."  

     Shinji opposes his father, thinking that he wasn't needed.  He still feels the pain of the three years since Gendo abandoned him.  

     "I can't pilot that thing."  

     The silence is broken and Gendo orders Fuyutski to wake up Rei, who ends up being anther Evangelion pilot.  Shinji is shocked by the arrival of Rei, heavily injured, in bandages Shinji. Rei falls from her stretcher because of the Angel's direct attack above Nerv Headquarter.  Shinji catches her, then he notices blood on his hands…Rei's blood.  

     "I must not run away, I must not run away…"  

    "I'll do it.  I'll pilot it."  

     Evangelion Unit 01 is launched.  However, Shinji has yet to find out about the fate that awaits him.  

     With frightened Shinji as the pilot, EVA-01, whose probability of moving was 0.00000001%, started to move however, in this state, a combat is next to impossible for Shinji. But with the current situation…he has no choice.  He looses and faints inside the Evangelion…
