Tenchi Muyo (No Need For Tenchi/Useless Tenchi) is a romantically funny magical (?!?!) story. Tenchi Masaki thought he was just an ordinary japanese boy. One day, pulling a joke on his grandfather, he got hold of the keys to an old shrine. Inside, was their family legend of a hero and a deamon. Tenchi finds a mummy and the sword said to be the sword used by the hero to stop the deamon. Since Tenchi broke the seal of the temple and tampered with the stuff there (was it w/ the sword?!), weird things happend. All of a sudden the mummy began to move and in panic, Tenchi tries to reseal the shrine then runs away.

Sooner than later Tenchi was back at school when a strange girl appeared out of no where. As it turns out this girl was Ryoko, a space pirate and also the deamon which means that she is also a.k.a. the mummy. Now Ryoko was in a very bad mood after being awakened and took to the idea of killing Tenchi for some reason. Tenchi escpapes and heads home only to find out a change of mind and heart in Ryoko makes her decide she shall move in with him. Soon after, "bad luck" caught up again as Aeka, princess of Jurai, lands on earth searching for her long lost brother... the hero who sealed the deamon. She too decides to move in with Tenchi. More people (girls really) come and live at the Masaki home which adds a really funny and humorous twist to this story.
