Phalaenopsis Orchids
Phalaenopsis is without doubt my most favorite orchid. It is by far the easiest orchid to grow. The blooms last a long time, up to 5 months for each individual flower, and most plants bloom reliably year after year. It requires moderate light without direct sunlight, and prefers warm temperatures in the 70s during the day, 60s during the night. An east- or north- facing windowsill provides the ideal growing location. Treat it as you would an African violet plant and you will have guaranteed success, or if you were like me, more success with phalaenopsis than African violets!
Did you know: phalaenopsis are originally from Asia, and the Taiwanese are currently the forefront phalaenopsis hybridizers.
