IV)Questions about Testimonies of Former Comfort Women.

(Typical Case B)
I painted a morning glory in the background when I made a embroidery tapestry of Japan's map at school. A policeman came to school and asked me why you did not paint a cherry blossom, a Japanese flower. He took me to a police station in 1940. My father went to Manzhou and rarely returned my house.
The policeman pointed out my father's absence, and he labeled me as a holder of independent movement's ideas my father might have. I was tortured by the policeman and I found myself in Fukuoka, Japan. After that, I was forced into prostitution at comfort stations in Fukuoka, Kobe, and Osaka.

Yoshimi told few comfort stations were in Japan because Japan was not the front line and a lot of brothels were in Japan.

i) The intermediate point of large units' movement
If large units came to cities and temporarily stationed to give soldiers rest, Yuukaku could not deal with all soldiers. Comfort stations might be temporarily at the intermediate point of large units' movement, even though the period was limited.

The period of large units movement were the early stage of Japan-China war (1937 to 1938), the early stage of Pacific war (1941 to 1942), and the final stage of defending mainland Japan (1945). If a lot of divisions always moved inside Japan, a lot of comfort stations would exist in Japan. However, a lot of intermediate divisions moved to China and Southern-East Asia without some exceptions. Less demand decreased the number of establishing comfort stations. This type of comfort stations have not been found yet.

ii) The places far from cities which had Yuukaku.
According to the second Navy's airplane's factory, Korean workers, and comfort women, comfort stations were established by a Navy flying unit at Kisarazu, Japan on March 1943, regardless of the neighbor's protesting movement.

The comfort women were recruited as Navy's comfort women by brothel's dealers. Former Geisha were gathered as comfort women from Yuukaku at Choushi. Kisarazu city is not near Tokyo. However, only this is categorized by this definition.

iii) The places Navy's units stationed
According to "Wartime's Diary of the Third Torpedo Boats Unit", the third torpedo boats unit designated a Yuukaku in Kushiro to change into comfort station in July 1944. However, only this case is categolized as this definition.

iv) The places where a lot of Korean workers were working for construction.
A comfort station seemed to be in a construction site of Matusiro Headquarter in 1945. Moreover, brothels for Korean workers existed in coal mining region Northern Kyuushuu.

v)The places expected U.S. Army would land.
Comfort stations existed in Okinawa and Ogasawara islands with a lot of divisions stationed. Moreover, as Japanese Army decided the final battle in Japan in June 1945, a lot of divisions stationed the place U.S. Army might land. Comfort stations might mainly exist at Kujuukurihama and Southern-Kyuushuu areas. Mr. Tanigaki, Corporal, of the Third Imperial Division (afterwords he became a military police) testified that comfort stations existed at Choushi, Narutou, and Mobara (near Kujuukurihama). However, his testimony is not reliable because the period was in May 1945.
