Welcome to ReiShin's Manga (Japanese word for Comic[s]).
No, I do not draw manga. Can't draw to save my life! I am only going to introduce briefly some interesting manga that I have come across.
I read quite a lot of manga. It ranges from fluffy High School romances, fantasy, detective, history, sports and working life. They can be shoujo, shounen or more mature manga. In fact, some of my favourite mangaka are: Hayakawa Tomoko, Hikawa Kyoko, Nakajo Hisaya, Akizuki Risu, Oda Eiichiro and Azuki Ryo.
What I have for you so far are:
- Soryuden
(This story actually appears in both anime and manga formats, and the only reasons why I have it on my website are: it is about dragons and the illustrations are fantastic)
- Watashi no Sukina Hito
(I really like this manga for it is so different in that it's not a "pure" manga. It is actually like a book of compilations of short stories around the same theme, "Love", with comments about each stories from the mangaka)
- Itazurana Kiss
(It originated as a manga, and was adapted into a TV drama series. The drama was cute and made me buy the manga set (which could not be completed for the mangaka passed away before she could do so.. *sigh*). Anyway, it was an interesting story for it was about this couple who are just so different: the girl who is clumsy, not terribly intelligent, but was a gem of a person, totally in love with the main guy and absolutely adorable. Conversely, the main guy is "cool-headed", very intelligent, total jerk at times, but he does show his love for the girl in his own weird, round-about way... interesting...)
I plan to write about some aspects of the Japanese working adults as portrayed through this manga called "OL Shinka-Ron". It is interesting how manga can actually tell us so much. But this project will come at a later date... like.. when I get sick of writing my dissertation or after I grad :P
