Question: How did you start to learn "music"?
Yukari: Since I started to take a lesson of piano when I was 3 years old.
My parents wanted to have a girl . That's why they wanted me to learn various things like piano.
Q: and Japanese flower arrangement?
Y: Yeah.. my parents have a certificate of Japanese flower arrangement.
So they asked me "you want to learn?" and I said "NO!"
Q: Your parents let you wear girl's clothes?
Y: Yes! sometimes they let me wear girl's skirt!! but now they say
" What we did is wrong..." because I'm in the music business
because of the piano lessons. and my fashion is like a woman because they dressed me like a girl when I was kid.
Q: That's true!!(^^)
Y: Haha.. I hated to wear girls clothes and play piano ever since I can remember things!
Q: So.. the music that you listened first was classic? and since then you have kept listening classic music?
Y: No.. because my dad was a drummer of Japanese oldies group.
So usually we listened Beatles or classic and theme song of Japanese animation.
Q: when did you start to listen "rock"?
Y: When I was in an elementary school , a friend of mine recommended me "BOOWY".
Q: and you were shocked when you listened that?
Y: No, I wasn't shocked. but I thought I like their fashion. A friend
who recommended BOOWY made a rock group. He asked me to sing
and I did. but we didn't do it for a live(concert). We just practiced at friends house.
Q: and then?
Y: Then I started to listen "Buck-Tick", David Bowie and my preference of music was getting to be a kind of grotesque!
Q: be grotesque?
Y: Yes.. like Alien sex fiend, Christian death...
Q: Their name sounds gloomy!
Y: haha... I liked gloomy. It's gloomy but also their melody was catchy and rhythmical.
I think I liked that. and I started to make a rock band
Q: hmm... but there was anyone who likes that kind of music?
Y: No..(^^) so I did BOOWY and Buck-Tick's song. I also listened DEAD END .
When I heard their song I thought "this is it!!" and then I listened LUNA SEA
Q: and then you paid frequent visits to a club house?
Y: I was like working there rather than visiting.
Q: At that time you did your ordinal song with your band?
Y: No, The first band that I did my ordinal song was Baiser.
Q: When was that?
Y: maybe when I graduate my high school.. I was with AKANE who was a former guitarist.
Q: I see.. Tell me about "Baiser" in next interview ok?
Y: sure!

Question: Shaisuke is the first member of Baiser?
Yukari: Yes. Our former member decided to quit the band in Jan'96 because he had a different view of the music.
At that moment I thought Shaisuke would be the best Bass player.
Q: You two know each other?
Y: Yes, we've been known each other for 4 or 5 years. I know him since he was in his former band.
We did a concert together on New Year's day and at that time Shaisuke wore showy kimono and I liked it!
Q: Kimono? Was it a formal men's one?
Y: No, he arranged women's "Furisode" and at the party after the concert we talked about music like
'what kind of music do you like??' etc ...
Q: Your impression of Shaisuke has been changed since then?
Y: No, but I like his showiness, so when he is quiet and simple I feel like it's not really him.
Q: Who is the next member of Baiser?
Y: Katsura is. I knew him too since he is in his former band. When I and Shaisuke were talking about a session
someone introduced him.
Q: What is the first impression of him?
Y: I thought he was a quite person. When he was in his former band I had a chance to talk to him in the
elevator, but I was thinking about something else at that moment, so when he asked me something I did
an indifferent answer and he was angry.
Q: So ... his impression has been changed?
Y: Yes!! It's changed a lot!
He kicked his clothes off at the hotel and suddenly he did his laundry even I was sleeping. I couldn't sleep!
Q: hahaha..... (laughs)
Y: I was recording in my dream but the sounds of the washmachine was to loud so I couldn't sing.
(laughs) Funny dream!!!
Q: Who is the next member?
Y: Katsura went to see a band which is Mizuki and Rei was in. He didn't say about it so Shaisuke and I didn't know.
Katsura said he is here to persuade Mizuki to leave his band and join our band. There were other members
of Mizuki's band too and they were surprised!
Q: Your impression of Mizuki has changed?
Y: Not so much, but I couldn't imagine he is such an untidy person!!!
When I met him first he didn't put his stuff back on the place it was normally kept!
Q: And last member is Rei.
Y: When Mizuki joined us there was a member named Akane (synth. G) but he had to quit
because of family problem. So we asked to Mizuki if he knew someone who's a good guitar player,
and Mizuki recommended Rei. They went to the same junior high school and started guitar playing together.
Q: Tell me your first impression of Rei
Y: He was quit. We went to the sea with other members and we had nothing to do, so we just got a suntan!!!
Q: Your impression of Rei has changed?
Y: No. Mizuki told me Rei is shy and quiet, but when I asked Rei some questions he wasn't shy !!!
Apparently Rei was shy only to Mizuki. I said to Mizuki 'Maybe Rei doesn't like you!!!' (laughs)
