" Hello. My name is Kyoko Otonashi"
What happens when you mix a beautiful manager, a love-sick student, a handsome tennis coach and a bunch of crazy, party-going tenants? One of Rumiko Takahashi's best selling series about comedy and love.
Genre: Romance, Comedy, Drama.
There are 96 TV episodes which follow the manga version very well. One major difference is that Nozomu never appears in the TV series. There are 15 volumes in the manga version (chinese).
One day Kyoko Otonashi walks into Ikkoku and becomes the new live-in manager. Yusaku Godai, who was ready to move out of the nut-filled house, took one look at her and decided to stay.
Here are some of the more major characters in Maison Ikkoku:
A hard drinker and party animal, she lives in Room 1 of Ikkoku. She also is a big gossiper and gets Godai into trouble by unfound 'rumors'.
The most mysterious of all the Ikkoku residents. Nobody knows how he pays the rent or makes a living. However, it must be pretty pathetic because he always steals food from Godai besides making his normal a nightmare. He lives in Room 4.
Wearing very little, the sexy red head Akemi lives in Room 6 and works in the Chachamaru.
The dog (pictured above) is called Soichiro and belongs to Kyoko. She moves to Ikkoku not long after her husband Soichiro dies. She lives downstairs in the Manager's Room.
Godai is a ronin (ie he failed his entrance exams) and is very indecisive. However, as the series continues, he becomes more confident to win Kyoko's heart. He lives in Room 5.
