Some practical advices:
Bizarrely enough, I'm the only guy in B-Tech who can play a decent Terran. Well, at least I'm the only person who doesn't mind using terran as if everyone in the clan are Terro-phobic? I think I'd like to point out, though, that Terrans are the easiest race to learn to play Starcraft with, but they are the hardest to master. I'm sick of newbies who just turtle and sit until all his allies dies and everyone else gangs up on him with multiple squads of mutalisks, battlecruisers, archons, and what not. They're giving the Terrans a bad name. Stupid people, learn how to play the game for once.
Maybe it is because I'm not Terro-phobic I usually set to random when I play. I'm also not too bad of a Zerg player, in fact I usually get the most kick out of playing Zerg in multiplayer games. The pure ability to crunch out 9-12 hydrolisks at once steadily is just amazing, and hydrolysks are such an-easy-to-abuse units, too. My advice to you Zerg fanatics out there is: don't underestimate the Overlord. They're statistically awesome: how can you not value an unit that is 1) farm 2) detector and 3) transport that people treat as a secondary target? If you can survive in the beginning, you're on your way to success.
Protoss are probably the next race a relatively-new player would pick up. Why? Simply because Zealots rocks hardcore. They literally "shred" stuff like it isn't really there. Especially those pure-zealot rushes. One word of advice, Zealot, like any other unit, loses a lot of its worth against units of higher tech if you don't upgrade them. Yeah yeah you say it cost money to get gas. Well you can do the math: it cost 100 for a gas thingy, probably another 100 for 2 probes, 200 for a forge, and 100 of mineral and gas for the first upgrade. That's 5 Zealots. When you have 2 squads, does it make that much of a difference?
Oh, and what's all this anime pictures doing in a Starcraft page, you ask. Well, they look cool, and ripping images from Blizzard (like 99% of other Starcraft pages out there) is just too lame, even for a bum like me. If I'm less a bum I'd actually make some cool pics, but I wouldn't play Starcraft nearly as much (probably ending up doing work, going to work, and watch more anime instead ^_^). If you still need more words of advice, visit Abeefy's page. He's got some FREAKING AWESOME TIPS. The TRUE secret for success in Starcraft. Well, if you can decipher the code and read beyond the words...
