Business Proposal (Part 4)

By: Hunter

“Spider-Man is helpless,” Norman thinks to himself “Now, how to kill him?”

“What are you going to do with me?” asks a nearly unconscious Spider-Man

"Simple. You’re going to die." Norman said with an evil glimmer in his eye.

“Killing me won’t solve anything Norman it will just lead you into a deeper insanity”

Norman let his guard down to think about this for only for a minute but that’s all it took for Spider-Man to get up on to his feet. Spider-Man still disoriented from the blast managed to shoot out a web-line. It misses Norman completely, but it does catch his attention.

“Huh? How did you? Who cares now it might make this battle a little tougher.

Norman threw a punch, which Spider-Man dodged by ducking and when he came up, delivered an uppercut to Norman knocking him off his glider.

“You must die now Parker!” yelled at the triumphant super hero. He then threw a bomb to at Spider-Man it landed right in front of him. Spider-Man was puzzled because it hadn’t exploded yet until his Spider- Sense started to ring in his head. He tried to move but it was too late. The bomb released a form of gas designed to bring about the end of Spider-Man.

“I’ve finally beaten you!” Norman yelled, “I’ve finally killed Spider-Man!” Norman laughed triumphantly at his foe. But it was cut short by a red fist racing out of the green smoke it hit Norman straight in the nose. The impact was so great, that after he let out an “Ahhh!” he flew back and hit a building so hard part of the cement crumbled off.

"I’m getting really sick of that laugh! Oh did I forget to tell you I'm one of the few who knows to hold my breath!"

At that time, Norman returned to his glider and began to renew his attack. Almost silently he pulled out a pumpkin bomb and flung it where Spider-Man was standing. But when the smoke cleared it only left a large black spot where the bomb hit. Not Spider-Man like Norman had hoped. Looking up he saw Spider-Man leap into the air and land on the side of a wall. Norman flew toward his enemy with a razor bat. The blade struck Spider-Man in the ribs the blade tore at Spider-Man’s costume and flesh until Norman pulled it out and Spider-Man fell straight to the hard ground.

"Back down to the ground?" Norman said. Spider-Man looked up at him and he looked terrible his face still was throbbing with pain from the punch Spider-Man landed on him.

“If you thought the razor bat was bad you ain't seen nothing yet!" Norman flew in front of Spider-Man, and began to punch him repeatedly. It was all Spider-Man could take. With the loss of blood and him being beaten again and again, Spider-Man blacked out.

"Ohhhhh...my aching head." Spider-Man thought to himself as he slowly awoke. His vision was blurry at first, but returned too normal. Norman was standing in front of him saying something he couldn't hear, for his hearing was still at a loss.

“Whaa?” Spider-Man said Norman looked back at his injured foe.

“I said I’m going to make your death long and painful”

“Oh I see” Spider-Man said flinching as he felt the pain in his arm.

Spider-Man then realized that he was strapped to a table that hovered a few feet off the ground. Spider-Man tried to break free for a little awhile, but the severe beating he had earlier wouldn't let him. He noticed Norman had taken care of his shoulder. The arm part of his costume was torn off. His cut had been wrapped up, but the blood still showed through.

“What’s this” Spider-Man asked motioning towards his arm

“Just call it my good deed for the year”

Spider-Man put his head back and closed his eyes hoping when he opened them it had only been a dream, but to his dismay he opened his eyes to reveal one of the Goblin’s hideouts.

Spider-Man looking for a way out noticed a broom standing against the wall next to him.

“Hmmm? Maybe if I….” Spider-Man thought as put together a plan.

As Norman sat down at a desk in front of Spider-Man. He put his plan into action. He waited until Norman put his guard down. Then Spider-Man kicked the broom that hit Norman’s pouch a pumpkin bomb rolled out and was armed. Norman now realizing what happened jumped out of the way of the exploding bomb.

“What the hell did you that for”? Norman asked

“This!” Spider-Man yelled as the straps that held him down released.

“But how did you?” Norman asked his question answered as he looked over and saw that the control panel for the straps had been badly damaged in the blast.

"Okay now by my count! I owe you some bruises!" Spider-Man said as he leaped toward Norman.

"I now must destroy Spider-Man!"

“Oh no you don’t” Spider-Man said as he dodged the lethal bombardment or pumpkin bombs and razor bats. Spider-Man got close enough to shoot his webbing straight into Norman’s eyes.

“Damn you Parker!” Norman screamed. “Damn you and that cursed webbing of yours”

"This can't be happening! You were at my mercy! I could have killed you!" Norman said as he ripped the webbing from his eyes, he frantically grabbed at a pumpkin bomb that was in his pouch. Hopping onto his glider he threw it directly at Spider-Man hoping the explosion would kill his enemy. It didn't. Instead Spider-Man dodged and the explosion caused the wood in the small apartment building that Spider-Man was held in to ignite. Within a few seconds the whole apartment was an inferno. Spider-Man couldn’t see Norman through the flames due to the smoke. Norman was trying to find a way to fly out with his glider but was constantly blocked by the flames leaping out at him.

"Norman!" Spider-Man cried out "I’ll help you out!"

"Never! I'll never let you help me!" Norman screamed.

"But you'll die in here if you don’t let me help you!"

"Better than be defeated by you!" Norman yelled as the building began to collapse. Spider-Man turned and ran. He leaped to get a clear distance from the burning building, as it collapsed on Norman. With a shake of his head, he shot a web line it attached to a near be wall he started home.

An hour later, Norman made it down to his sewer base and was breathing heavily. His costume and skin were burned severely. Portions of his skin were burnt black and his glider was torn apart when the apartment building fell on him. It would only take a few days for the Goblin formula to totally heal his burns.

In Part 5—We find out what happened to James Johnson and his healing abilities.
