Destiny.
The dark figure had heard those words before. Spoken to him long ago. His master Goutetsu had warned him of the powers of the dark Shotokan. Being impatient for his thirst of knowledge, Gouki wanted to know more. More than he or any of Goutetsu’s students’ wanted to learn. "I have gone over this discussion countless times, Gouki," Goutestu warned, studying his pupil, "the Shun Goku Satsu is a formidable technique." Gouki paid Goutetsu’s words no attention, as the elder man studied his student. "Its true purpose kills both the hunted as well as the hunter. I do not wish to—"
"You will be silent, old man!" Gouki called out, his arms crossed, "either teach me the Shun Goku Satsu, or your death will pave the way to an evil and most unfortunate future."
"I cannot, Gouki."
"Then you shall die."
Gouki and Goutetsu, student and master, squared off in a deadly fight to the death. And to the death it was. Goutetsu brought his two hands to his side and channeled his chi. His hands were laced with blue energy, as he finally released the ball of energy and shouted "HADOUKEN!" The fireball sailed towards Gouki, as he briefly studied the ball of energy. He had now blocked the projectile. His destiny calling.
Goutetsu was beginning to tire quickly. He had thrown everything he could at Gouki. The man had blocked almost all of Goutetsu’s moves: the Shoryuken— blocked. Numerous Hadoukens— blocked. Goutetsu grew tired, his resources of attack very limited. Gouki smiled down at his exhausted master. "Shoush," he said, and he now mercilessly attacked his master. A splendid combination was set up, and all Gouki did was smile, as if he had been the devil. "Now, you die," Gouki hissed. Thunder rumbled in the distance and lightning slashed, as Gouki now had his master rather dazed.
Goutetsu was ill-prepared for the technique his student, Gouki, was now about to apply. "Shun Goku Satsu," Gouki said, as he somehow "warped" towards his master. Shun Goku Satsu, Instant Hell Murder, as it was loosely translated. Goutetsu felt the sting of his body suddenly seem to be burning. All went black around the elder shotokan master. The last thing his vision saw was his once powerful and noble student, Gouki, stand over him, laughing like the devil himself. Gouki left, satisfied with his job.
That was what this was about.
The young boy and his American friend were sparring with one another, unknown of their sensei. "What’s the matter pretty-boy?" the American smirked, "afraid to get your hands a little— whoa!" The American’s smirk was still on his face, as the young Japanese boy had just flipped him. The American executed a kick up and kicked him for the jaw. The kick was blocked by an elbow strike to the solarplexus and the American groaned. The Japanese boy smiled but it was a brief one.
"Hey, Ryu," Ken said, "isn’t sensei suppose to call us back? We’ve been out here sparring for nearly five hours."
Ryu nodded to his friend’s question and the two rushed quickly to see why their sensei did not call them. Little did they know, that when they arrived on the scene, they saw their sensei, but he looked as though he were severely beaten. Defeated. Even dead. Ken checked for a pulse. He found one, but Goutetsu now was laboring in his breath. "Ryu…" the elder man said, his life fading every second.
"Sensei, I’m here," Ryu said, kneeling to his sensei, "who did this?"
"Ryu....Ken....you have trained hard…but now… there is… another…he has studied the dark shotokan…"
"The dark shotokan?" Ken asked. "But that’s impossible!" He looked to Ryu and then to Goutetsu. "Isn’t it?" Ken’s eyes were almost filled with tears.
"Master, who did this?" Ryu scooped his hand under his master’s head.
"It was.... it was...." And then, Master Goutetsu’s life ended, dead in Ryu’s arms. His eyes were wide open in shock from his attack. Ryu looked to his master’s eyes, and he lowered his hand over his sensei’s face. The eyes closed then. Ryu placed his sensei’s lifeless body back on the ground, and he headed for the opposite direction, not acknowledging his friend.
Ryu’s path now will lead him on a trip of a vengeance. Ken himself is grief-stricken and he has decided to put the past behind him. Though he will also find who killed their master. Whoever had killed their master, Ryu and Ken would surely find them. Though their paths will be divided. Ryu’s journey has begun. He must continue his training.
Alone.
