I, am annoyed.
So having spent some quality time with the Hikaru no Go section at ff.net and then some author's personal site (because porn can't be posted on ff.net and HnG porn is pretty damn funny) I am rantiness. Kristi and stickmarionette and #np have had to put up with me already, but I must share my rage with the world.
Things I'm really starting to hate in Hikaru no Go fanfics:
1. There is nothing in Akira or Hikaru's canon characterization to indicate that either of them have any interest in porn, generally in fics they come to the relationship as virgins, and yet they still manage to know enough to stick their dicks up each others asses and (sometimes) use lube.
2. Not enough Pimp!Ogata
3. Hikaru's mother while not thrilled with his decision to become a go player and wishing he'd go to high school in canon, does not completely lack an understanding of the fact that it can be a profession. In fics people tend to make her into a total moron regarding this aspect.
4. I'm pretty sure the scanslations have affected people's writing of dialogue. While Hikaru rarely uses more polite formal japanese, he doesn't use the level of slang that people write for him in english. I'm really tired of reading dialogue for Hikaru that seems like something a bratty 6 year old would say. (Also, as he gets older he stops talking quite so immaturely, and given that these fics are placed in the future, is it too much to ask that he use normal english?)
5. Still not enough Ogata pimpin'.
6. Hikaru is not a blushing teenage girl, even if he is in a relationship with a guy.
7. The japanese concept of what happens to the dead is not the same as the Judeo-Christian one. Please stop sending Sai to heaven.
Things I would like to see in Hikaru no Go fic:
1. More Ogata doing his pimp thing.
2. A fic in which Akira is really a girl but has been raised as a boy because the meijin wanted a proper heir.
3. Improper use of go stones in sex scenes.
4. Ogata pedo fic...with Ochi.
That will be all...for now at least.

Stuff Happens.
There are REASONS I haven't blogged in most of a week! It's not purely because I'm lazy, although that is part of it. See, first, I've reallyreally started sewing, because con season looms before me. I have completed Kazuki's shirt, but my efforts on the Loki costume have been hampered by not having enough fabric, and then MORE VISITORS x_@. Yes, more guests. This time it is my grandfather, who is err...one of the less enjoyable people to be around. Other than that my blogging efforts have been hampered by computer issues. I wanted a cd burner. Okay, so I have a cd burner now, thing is, my dad bought a new computer. So I spent a couple days transferring all the files from the old one to the new one, hooking things up, etc. Made the blog thing a pain, but the new computer is 1337.
You know, I had things to say when I started writing this, but then May brought up Ayatsuri Sakon on IRC and I'm too busy being traumatized because I spent a good amount of time trying to repress my memories of that series. It's MPD or slashy or maybe slashy MPD. ARG. TRAUMA x_x

Aughthemidgardserpentiswearingglasses!
It should be apparent by now that I am master of all things procrastination and that I did in fact promise to blog some time ago, but have not gotten around to it until now. Stuff happens. Like spring break and house guests and new obsessions and parties. Wow, it all sounds terribly more exciting than it is. We'll work our way through things in no particular order here.
So because I am a sick masochist with far more free time than is healthy, I downloaded DNAngel episode two (from Ishin). On the plus side, the opening is pretty! On the negative side this is honestly one of the worst manga to anime transitions I've ever seen. I'm putting it on the same level as Houshin Engi, it's that bad. There's really no call for this kind of treatment. It's possible to make an anime different than the manga without violating the plot, characterization of the manga. I don't expect the line for line, scene for scene anime that some series get (like Fushigi Yuugi tv), but ARG, they've done the complete OPPOSITE with the relationships in the anime and it is violation! I'm not the only person upset about this, everyone I know who likes the manga and has seen the anime is not amused. Rar.
So Gina and Diana's birthday party was last friday and people did stuff. Lei-chan brought the baby who was adorable except for wiping his boogers in my hair. Monkeyball was played, I shared the horror of the COWS in Master Quest and um stuff. The highlight of the night was Diana's arrival in her cop-out Snape costume. Diana is decidedly Snapey, especially in black wig and clothes and platform boots, she doesn't even have to try to be uber. The greatest part of the costume was when she unbuttoned her shirt to reveal that she was BATSNAPE! Love the batsnape or else. Also Gina found at Sakuracon the Pierrot single I had been incapable of locating because of an evil plot against me, and Diana got me a very special present at Sakuracon...
...a new pin cushion. We boggled at the fact that the anime colors are actually gayer than the manga colors, I mean, mint green was pretty bad, but WTF is with the lavender?! The original plan was to make it new clothes, but it's only 3 1/2 inches tall, a little hard to sew anything for, but the perfect size to use as a pin cushion. Steph has loaned me a bag of HnG manga, so I have through volume 19 currently. This means it's time to work on updating the Hikaru no Ghei page, but I'm somewhat apprehensive about this because I'm running out of webspace. It may get an update and a relocation. I have not abandoned it, I'm just lazy so it may take a little while.
Skipping back to Pierrot (my thoughts are rather disorganized). A couple days ago I was looking at cdjapan just to see what was coming out and I noticed a new Pierrot single will be out in june. So I read about it and found out there will be three different pressings (one with a dvd clip, one with a band poster, one with an anime poster) and it's the new opening to Get Backers and was pretty shocked. That same day, a few hours later, people had gotten episode 26 of Get Backers with the new opening and were ranting about it on irc, much to my extreme vexation because I had not heard the song and they were pleasurably enjoying it! I have the most fucked up karma with Pierrot singles.
And in closing I will rant fangirlishly about my new obsession (which is Puu's fault even though I've ended up pimping it at her more than she's pimped it at me). Matantei Loki (Mythical Detective Loki) is love. Not only is it a magical boy, who is a detective, and unbearably cute, but the mythology as far as we can determine at this point is 100% accurate, a feat usually only accomplished by special people like Atlus and Neil Gaiman. Alas, but it was part of the Great Enix Publishing FuxX0r. The Great Enix Publishing FuxX0r happened around the same time as Enix bought Squaresoft, many of their most popular manga titles abruptly vanished from magazines, never to be heard of again...at least until recently when we've found out that other publishers have picked them up. Which means that there are two manga series for Matantei Loki: the first one being seven volumes and published by Enix and called Matantei Loki, the second being two volumes thus far published by Mag Garden and called Matantei Loki Ragnarok (which is the title of the anime). The picture at the top is from the inside front of Matantei Loki volume 3 and it made me go all woobly and kirakira, because not only is it insanely cute, but it's a copy of one of the original illustrations from Through the Looking-Glass from one of the lesser known chapters (Water and Wool, people tend to overlook it for some reason) and that's one of my favorite books EVER. The illustration was in black and white, and I just liked it so much that I colored it to use it here.
Whew, that was long, but I'm done now.
