Blog Wars

Kya has apparently stumbled across a blog war and is most unhappy with it. She doesn't like blog wars. I gotta agree with her. All people do is snipe comments back and forth on some subject. Its more like debate class gone horribly nasty and wrong. If you're going to have a war you need to organize, people! You need a strategy! And troops! And munitions! You need an invasion plan (how do you go around invading someone's blog anyways?). Nobody ever gains anything from the things you people call "blog wars". All they are is self-righteous wanking. To truly have a war you have to have a plan to GAIN something from it. Not just whine.

Blue Uru

New Image. Pretty ain't it? Yoshiyuki Sadamoto is one of my favorite anime artists/character designers. He works primarily with Gainax, so most people are familiar with his art for Evangelion, Nadia, and even to a point Royal Space Force (Wings of Honnemaise or whatever). He also did the jacket art for Eric Clapton's album Pilgrim. Generally though, his most interesting pictures in the artbooks are the ones from Aoki Uru (Blue Uru). Blue Uru was supposed to be a sequel of sorts to Royal Space Force and was begun in 1992, but was put aside for various reasons. The project has been resumed with some changes, and the movie is supposedly to be released this year. The image is taken from page 87 of Der Mond.

Katie on Ka

Not like that you preverts.

She thinks I'm writing about her. She was paranoid but now that I am actually doing so, I guess she's not paranoid. Vicious cycle, isn't it?

Katie on Fanfiction

I don't like most fanfiction. You don't care probably, but there's a reason for it. Most fanfics either skew the canon, or run it through a blender. If I like a series well enough to look for fics, I obviously want something that pays attention to the series, because there must have been something in the canon that made me like it, right?

Think of the canon for a series (any series, pick one) as being a koi pond. A good fanfic is like doing maintenance on the pond, feeding the koi, planting a new plant next to it, somehow adding to the pond without ruining it. However, most fanfic is like throwing a rock in the pond. The worse the fic, the bigger the rock. For example, a fic that somehow changes things a tiny bit for the author's purposes is like a pebble. A fic where more things are changed is a slightly larger stone. Start bringing dead people back to life, that's like a rock. Take the characters and change them to be completely unidentifiable except for their names, put them in a new world, well damn, I don't know how the hell you moved that boulder and ruined the koi pond for good. A Mary Sue type fanfic would be where the author finds the koi pond irresistable looking, decides she wants to swim around in it and jumps in, disturbing everything and scaring the fish. The more the canon is disturbed in the fic, by whatever means, the less it is a good fanfic. If you don't like your neighbor's koi pond, for god sakes don't ruin it to suit yourself, build your own koi pond. If you don't like the world, the plot, or how the characters act in the canon, write original stories and create your own canon, don't twist the original.

Thank you and goodnight.

The chibi demented Lisa heads are something interesting aren't they?
I told you I'd put something interesting here eventually.
