The Meeting The stars above could not have seen the wonder of their plan allowing through either karma or kismet two souls to meet Nor the heavens begin to understand how lucky the two be To have found each other through none other than human device. Like flames, they always flickered throughout their allotted life So many times before had each struck matches without spark Each fed off the other until both could grow strong and proud Not realizing that suffocation would soon take its toll. So when the time had come, they were both prepared Yet neither could stop the other's nor their own demise They were not strong enough to combat such a drenching force Each lasted as long as possible, but both succumbed to extinguishment Now, all that remains is a memory; the wick that waits for the match Then the two could live again and prosper in the warm glow of each other Till then, it is dark and the only light is from man-made sources With counterfeit emotions and artificial life and no soul of its own.
