Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals is a good game that is filled with puzzles. It probably has more puzzles than all of the Zelda games combined. The plot is great.
It begins with a mysterious red ball flying through the sky which people are talking about.
The next day, Maxim (our hero) cashing in monsters at his girlfriends weapons shop in Elcid. After he explores through an "Introduction Dungeon" the townspeople need someone to get back the key to Sundletan from the monsters.
Inside the cave Maxim retrieves the key. But the weird part is these monsters have no reason to attack them.
Then a fortuneteller named Iris comes in and tells him he needs to fight. She also tells him that there are others who can fight the monsters who are attacking. And so begins the story of Lufia 2...
Characters
- Maxim - The Hero of the game and a monster hunter from Elcid. He knew how to fight ever since he was born. Iris tells him that he will fight the Sinistrals. He has good fighting abilties and fair magic power.
- Tia - The owner of the weapons shop in Elcid. She meets up with Maxim in the Lake Cave asking for her to join. She loves Maxim, but she doesn't trust he will live in battle. She eventually leaves the group because she says she would get in Maxim's way. She has fair fighting power and good magic power.
- Guy - A swordfighter from the town of Tanbel. He first joins the party to help recover his sister, Hilda from Ishura. He continues to fight because he likes to. He eventually helps fight the Sinistrals. He has great fighting abilites, but he can't use magic.
- Selan - The leader of the Parcelyte army and a magician. She first joins the party because the king commands her to join Maxim, Tia, and Guy to find the Treasure Sword. She doesn't trust Maxim at first, but she eventually learns to. She would eventually marry Maxim and fight the Sinistrals. She has good fighting power and great magic power.
- Dekar - (The MAN!!) The bodyguard of the prince of Bound Kingdom. He is very VERY strong, but not very smart. He eventually is caught in the destruction of a shrine and leaves the group. Near the end of the game he comes back to help fight monsters. His fighting power is excellent, but he doesn't use magic.
- Lexis - A genius from Shia Laboratory. During the game, he makes a ship, a submarine, and an airship. He uses a light wood to make those. He eventually leaves the group to help clean up ooze in the lab in Portravia. He fights with wrenches. His fighting and magic power is fair.
- Artea (Spelled "Arty" in battles) - An elf from Eserikto. He joins the party to find his kidnapped mother, Karyn. Karyn eventually loses her life from fighting off a Sinistral. He will help fight the Sinistrals. His fighting abilty is good and his magic power is great.
+ Good plot. Many puzzles; Zelda fans will love it. Great music. A wide variety of characters. A new and orginal attribute called Item Point which increases whenever you get hit, and you can use it with some equipped items; it's like building up "rage." Uses Capsle Monsters. Uses thought bubbles and speaking bubbles instead of a text box.
- It might be too puzzling for some people. Enemies can get annoying, but you need to destroy them to level up. There are WAY to many bugs, typos, and other glitches in the game.
