The Aftermath and Origins

Explanations

Do my fanfics leave you confused as to what actually happened? Or did you just forget things that have already happened? Well, I have created this little guide to help you out with names and ideas in these series. This goes all the way up to that current Origins: That Filthy Urchin, but never fear people who've only read up to Unearthly Beginnings. This guide will cover all of the fanfics, but the latest one (in this case TFU) will be put in hidden text, so, if you want, you can catch up on my interpretation before reading TFU. For those of you who don't know how to read hidden text, just select it and it will appear. Hidden text here will always appear between astericks(*). Note: This will not explain anything directly explained in the game.

If there's anything here explained in my fanfics that I forgot to cover, please email me what the characters, place, concept, etc. is/are.

Characters:

Agalag - Leader of the Tipalians and one of the Great Soldiers. He agreed with the Animal Energy Plan, being the first Tipalian to receive magic, and let other Tipalians learn it. When the Tipalian Protection Centre (TPC) discovered something in space, he checked it out, and found out is was a giant energy porcup, along with the treacherous Zalaa. While Zalaa distracted Agalag with his plan, the energy porcup powered up. As a ditch effort, Agalag, with the Gravity magic type, cast Demi 3, but the porcup's beam destroyed his ship and killed him, consequently.

Alfador - *As a kitten, his owner, Kajar, died. Alfador remained depressed after that. Schala then gave Alfador to Janus, cat and human becoming attached. Alfador saw within Janus the similar pain both could not portray.*

Magus and Alfador were reunited when Magus returned to 12,000 B.C. to find Schala, Alfador coming along. When them and Schala were trapped in the Sunken Underwater Palace while it was being destroyed, Alfador panicked. This caused Magus to drop his amulet and Schala to drop her pendant, which joined together, letting them escape.

Ancient Yakra - A holder of the Powers. In an attempt to stop his descendents from getting humiliated and end humanity, he "mess with Laruban head" (Ayla) and has them fight Ioka. Once Ayla and Kino find out that it is not the Laruban leader, but him, Yakra appears to take Baby Karla hostage. However, Codra comes in and tells them that it's not Karla. Enraged, Ayla uses Dino Tail and kills him.

Atropos - With time changed, Atropos is back under the control of Mother. When Robo invades Geno Tower, she catches him. After Robo later recovers, he knocks her out to get at Mother. After Mother is destroyed, Atropos returns to normal and taken out of the exploding Geno Tower by Robo, Crono, Marle, and Lucca.

Ayla - Two years after returning to 65 million B.C., she has a child with Kino named Karla. However, Laruba attacks them, herself leading the attack. After winning a battle through trickery, she goes to the Laruba chief hut, only to find that the Elder is really Ancient Yakra. Yakra tricks her and Kino into thinking he has Karla hostage, but Codra reveals it is only an illusion. With Dino Tail, she defeats Yakra. Unlike the other six, she never actually sees the "woman" until the campfire scene. Later, Gaspar warps her through a red Gate to have her help fight the Clones.

Azala - See Zalaa.

Belthasar - *Is told by Kajar (as Entity) to try to stop Zeal from using Lavos energy, which he, and the other Gurus fail at. Tries to persuade Zeal from killing ones with the Unnamed Magic, but fails at that too. The Prophet has her lock up the Gurus, for "plotting against her," and he is then transported through the Lavos Gate.*

Clones - Clones of Crono and his friends made in the Black Omen from smart Lavos Spawn. After the sinking of the Black Omen, they were deformed. Crono's group defeated them at the End of Time. Magus 2 was the weakest, since it was incomplete, and was easily sucked in by Magus' Black Hole.

Codra - An old messager trusted by Ayla. When Ayla and Kino met up with Ancient Yakra, Codra came in and revealed the "Karla" Yakra held was just an illusion to Ayla and Kino.

Crono - His father died after sparring someone disguised as Kenneth, when "Kenneth" thrust his sword into the father when he bowed. The younger Crono had flashbacks from his past with his father, and turned silent. He eventually got over the flashbacks, but the silence was there to stay.

While looking for his mother, his flashbacks return, in fear that he may lose his mother too. After fighting the Clones, he gets her back at the End of Time. But then, Crono swordfaught the person disguised as Kenneth. He had a "crescent-shape shield", Reflect, on him, so the party decided they wouldn't interfere with spells. Crono learns that it is not really Kenneth, and the fake Kenneth tells about what really happened (see Kenneth). When Crono got the advantage, he knocked the sword from Kenneth's hand and Crono's thought's were sent out telepathically; Zeal would later note that the Powers were given to him. Kenneth then knocked Crono down, and was about to kill him when Spekkio gave Crono's Mother the power to use magic, hers being the Lost Magic, and she removed Kenneth's barrier. With a Gatling Kick from Crono, Lucca, and Ayla, the Lavos Spawn died.

Crono's Father - An expert swordfighter, who taught Crono how to use a sword. He died at the hands of the Smart Lavos Spawn that appeared to be Kenneth after sparring with him, although at that time everyone thought it was really Kenneth. "Kenneth"'s original intention was to kill Crono's father before Crono was born to prevent his birth, but made a mistake. However, killing him did prove to be useful, as it caused Crono's depression and resulted in him not talking.

Crono's Mother - Lost after Chrono Trigger, Crono, Marle, and Lucca search through time for her. While she is lost, Crono worries and flashbacks return to him, like when his father died. She ends up being at the End of Time. When Crono fights Kenneth, Spekkio finds out that she can possess the Lost Magic, and gives her that ability. She then removes Kenneth's Reflect spell using Dispel, and Crono along with Ayla and Lucca destroys Kenneth.

Cyrus - Revived by Zeal when Frog comes to visit him, he and Frog fight the Frog King and defeat him with the help of Masa & Mune.

Dalton - *A replacement for the Gurus when Magus, as the Prophet, has Gaspar and Belthasar confined in the Ocean Palace, Melchior already imprisoned on Mount Woe.*

When Magus and Schala try to escape from the sunken Ocean Palace, Dalton, only semi-alive, uses his remaining power to summon the Golems and show himself to the siblings. Then, he causes the destruction of the Palace, just to try to kill Magus and Schala, dying off having lost all his power. However, that failed when Magus' amulet and Schala's pendant joined together to get them and Alfador out.

Frog - Returning to 600 A.D., he finds that the Frog King has overthrew Guardia kingdom. The Frog King mistakes him for one of his henchmen, Tibbs. However, due to "Tibbs" lack of flies brought back, he is thrown in jail, where he met Leene. She told him that a woman had been there the other day, later revealed to be Zeal, but wasn't there anymore. Frog finds a secret passage, and leaves.

Before he goes to reclaim Guardia, he goes by Cyrus' Grave, at where Zeal revives Cyrus. Back at the castle they, along with the help of Masa & Mune, defeat the Frog King.

Later, at the campfire scene, Zeal "calls upon the truth", returning Frog to his human form.

Frog King - Takes the throne from King Guardia and Leene, but is later defeated by Masa & Mune when Frog summons them upon returning to the castle.

Gaspar - *Is told by Kajar (as Entity) to try to stop Zeal from using Lavos energy, which he, and the other Gurus fail at. The Prophet has Zeal lock up the Gurus, for "plotting against her," and he is then transported through the Lavos Gate.*

Given the ability at the End of Time from the Entity, Kajar, to make Gates. He was to create them in hope someone would activate one and find out about Lavos. His power to make Gates is limited though, and runs out after he summons Crono's friends in for the Clone battle.

Glenn - See Frog.

Hazel - See Zeal.

Janus (Child) - *Left with his emotions locked up after Kajar's death, Schala gives him the kitten who was attached to Kajar, Alfador. It is about that time, also, that Zeal decides to kill the one's with the Unnamed Magic, but the Sun Stone is running out, and she decides she needs a new source of power. The Prophet tells her about Lavos energy, and Zeal orders Belthasar to create the Mammon Machine. Janus attends the all the times Zeal had Schala summon magic from Lavos, and feels sorry for Schala's pain. Melchior tells him that Zeal is not herself -- but that she is occupied by Lavos. This begins Janus' maddness to just try to destroy Lavos. Attending each of the summonings, he tries to find the right opprotunity to fight Lavos. However, he chooses the wrong time, when Lavos sends the Gurus through Gates, challenging Lavos then, but gets sent through a Gate himself to 600 A.D.* See Magus for adult.

Kajar - *Killed by a furious unnamed Earthbound One, who had the unique ability to use the Lost Magic. Although he condemned the Earthbound in life, the Earthbound One's speech changed his mind about the Earthbound. He wanted to let them live in peace, but the Earthbound thought him a liar, and killed him. After his death, Zeal fears the ones with Lost Magic, and kills them with the help of the new Lavos energy.*

Kajar replaces the previous Entity (for reasons unknown) and constantly seeks to remove the Lavos from Zeal, and from the Earth. *He told the Gurus to try to stop her, but they failed.* After Zeal's death, he has her perform tasks to be ready for Judgment (which she probably would have done anyway if she got the chance), mainly to remove any remaining Lavos from her. Uncovering his real identity (before, Zeal did not know the Entity was Zeal), he then retires as Entity, which Melchior replaces him as, and goes to have his soul "live" with Zeal's in the stars.

Karla - Baby daughter of Ayla and Kino. While they are fighting Laruba, the woman later revealed to be Zeal protects her with a blue shield. Ancient Yakra makes Ayla and Kino think that he is holding Karla hostage, but Codra comes in says that she isn't actually there.

Kenneth - A student who studied swordfighting from Crono's Father. He was killed, however, by a smart Lavos Spawn. The Lavos Spawn then morphed into Kenneth's form and sparred with Crono's Father; after the fight the Lavos Spawn killed him. It is not until Crono fights it that he learns that it was not really Kenneth who killed his father. The Lavos Spawn, had made a mistake, or rather Zeal herself, in that he went to the wrong time and didn't kill the father before Crono was born, as Zeal (in Black Omen) ordered. (Note: This Lavos Spawn often refered to as Kenneth in both the series and this guide, although it is known it isn't really him.)

After Lavos was defeated, Kenneth (fake) used his magic to draw the cats into the closing Gate, and so Crono's mother. (In the Crono/Kenneth fight, Crono figures this out on his own.) He did this knowing that Crono would come to try to find his mother, so he could avenge Lavos. However, when Spekkio taught Crono's mother magic, the Lost Magic, she Dispelled Kenneth's Reflect, and they were able to defeat him.

Kino - Mate of Ayla and father of Karla. (Back this far in time, marriage did not exist.) When battling with Laruba, Ayla tells him to not fight, but to stay and watch Karla. However, Zeal comes to him and tells him she will protect Karla. After beating Ancient Yakra, he once again encounters Zeal, who revives the people who died in battle (which later is said to use up most of her powers).

Lavos - Created by Zalaa (later known as Azala) on Tipalia as a result of the Animal Energy Plan. To get Lavos, Zalaa first manipulated the sperm and egg of a porcup (an animal which resembles a porcupine) to create an energy porcup. This allowed the Tipalians to use the energy porcup's energy to use magic, that much of what Zalaa said was true. But the so called "energy porcup" actually drained energy from the planet, and magic could actually not return magic to it as Zalaa said.

Zalaa had created a male energy porcup in private, the opposite gender of the one known. Since they were created artifically, they drained energy slow, but Zalaa knew what he was doing. He bred these two to create one that would require no manipulation to be able to drain energy, a natural energy absorber, which would drain energy much faster than its parents. (Sounds like chocobo breeding, huh? ^_^) This one would be known as Lavos. After feeding on the nearby planet of Ersam, it grew dramatically. He was blown out of the galaxy later by the Tipalian Great Soldiers (after Agalag's death), but when Zalaa was being blasted into space, Zalaa told him by remote control to return to Tipalia. He crashed into Tiaplia, making it result in a "long, cruel, ice age," making its citizens become extinct. When Zalaa landed on Earth, by remote he had Lavos (who consumed several planets while drifting through space) land on Earth with him.

Leene - Captured by the Frog King, she is taken to the prison near Cyrus' Grave, remodeled as a prison. Later, she helps Frog there by telling him of a woman (Zeal) who was there the other day, and then was gone. Frog looks under the bed and finds a secret passage to the outside.

Lucca - Goes with Crono and Marle through time to help out their friends and try to find Crono's mother. She modifies the Gate Key into the Gate Locator to try to find her, installing it in the Epoch, to try to find them.

Magus (Adult) - *As the Prophet, he ironically recommends to Zeal Lavos energy. Ever since the day as a child he noticed Lavos took over his mother, he seeks not to prevent Lavos' coming, but has a fury to summon and then destroy Lavos... at any cost. In this way, he is the cause of his own madness. Also, he later tells Zeal about the Gurus plotting against her, in fear that they will stop Lavos from coming, and Zeal has Belthasar and Gaspar locked up (Melchior is on Mt. Woe).*

After Lavos is destroyed, he returns back to the Earthbound and tries to find Schala. With Crono, Marle, Lucca, and Zeal's help, he reaches the Ocean Palace, now sunken, where he last saw Schala. There he finds Schala, and after battling Golems, Dalton makes the structure slowly start to collapse. At the last moment, though, Magus' Amulet and Schala's pendant join together to get them out. See Janus for child.

Marle - Goes with Crono and Lucca through time to help out their friends and try to find Crono's mother. Her part in these stories is minimal; the only real important thing about her is the fact that she doesn't know Crono that long, so Lucca tell her of his tragic past.

Masa & Mune - *Told by Belthasar about the Red Knife, in case it was their only hope against the Mammon Machine, which it was.* Much later, in 600 A.D., they help out Frog and Cyrus by taking the Masamune and destroying the Frog King.

Melchior - *Is told by Kajar (as Entity) to try to stop Zeal from using Lavos energy, which he, and the other Gurus fail at. Tries to persuade Zeal from killing ones with the Unnamed Magic, but fails at that too. Later at an energy summoning, Melchior tells Janus that Zeal is no longer Zeal, but occupied by Lavos. Zeal hears him, though, and punishes him by sealing him on Mount Woe, having Giga Gaia stop anyone who might try to release him. As we know, Crono releases him, but after he gets the Red Knife to try to destroy the Mammon Machine, Melchior, along with the other Gurus, are transported back to the Ocean Palace, and they are all sent through Lavos Gates.*

After Kajar and Zeal are reunited, Melchior replaces Kajar as the Entity, becoming the third. Also, in the very end it is seen that Melchior is the one telling The Aftermath stories.

Mother - Given the Powers by the previous Entity. In the new 2300 A.D., her powers were even greater, and she still controlled Atropos and most robots. Inside the place where she was, the Geno Tower, Robo, was fighting Mother when Crono, Marle, and Lucca blasted in. While Crono and Robo distracted Mother by fighting her, Lucca uploaded a stealth virus she had been creating in the main controls, causing the other robots to fight against her. Having being overcome by them, Mother was destroyed.

Poccu - A mutant penguin-like creature, and one of the Great Soldiers of Tipalia. Out of all the creatures on Tipalia, he is the best pilot, even better than Agalag. His SS is specially made so he can pilot it using thought power. However, he does not speak Tipalian, but has a translator machine so he can understand orders.

Prophet - See Magus.

Reios - President of the Tipalian Protection Centre (TPC). Has the Great Soldiers minus Agalag (already dead) fight the giant energy porcup that would later be Lavos.

Robo - Back in his own time, he remembers that Mother never was destroyed, Atropos was never brought back to normal, so he searches to do both. With help from Zeal, he is guided to the Geno Tower where Mother is. Atropos catches him, and he is brought up to Mother's room to decide what to do with him. However, Robo had a GreenDream and revived, and with the help of Crono, Marle, Lucca, her virus, and the other robots in the tower, they were able to defeat Mother. Atropos was brought back to normal. Later, he was sent by Gaspar through a Gate to help fight the Clones.

Schala - *The only one in the family that did not believe in the degradtion of the Earthbound, but she kept this opinion to herself. She was the second saddest person when it came to Kajar's death. Later, to get more power, Zeal would have her summon energy from the new source, Lavos, via the Mammon Machine. Janus wants to stop Schala's pain, but is told by Melchior that Lavos is controlling Zeal. However, Janus would be soon sucked into one of Lavos' Gates.*

After the Black Omen was destroyed, it sunk, and she was left unconscious in it. Magus came to save her, though, and nearly avoiding dying in Dalton's destruction of the Palace, they escaped.

Spekkio - While Crono fought "Kenneth", he, as a pink nu, "looked" as Crono's Mother's magic type and gave it to her, the Lost Magic. With that, she was able to protect Crono from a magic attack from Kenneth and Dispel Kenneth's shield. More info on the way in Origins: Ares.

Terces - Leader of the Tipalian Great Soldiers after Agalag dies.

Tibbs - A servant the Frog King thinks Frog is when Frog comes to Guardia, trying to save Leene. Tibbs' only said purpose was to get flies for the Frog King.

Wedge - *A friend of Kajar's, but since he knows the Unnamed Magic, he dies in the Lost Magic Massacre.*

Zalaa - Tipalian to originate the Animal Energy Plan and created Lavos from it. In an attempt to take over Tipalia, he came up with the plan, which he said would give them magic, and would let them drain energy from the planet, but return more back. He telled the truth on two counts: it would give them magic and drain energy from the planet. The plan was to take two porcups (porcupine-like animals), manipulate the sperm and egg from them, and he would get an "energy porcup." This one would be able to have energy drawn from.

However, he created a second energy porcup: male, the opposite gender of the one currently used. He had these two breed to produce a natural energy absorber porcup, one that would require no manupluation of the gametes to make, and thus one that could drain energy faster. This one would be Lavos. Zalaa had Lavos fight Agalag, and killed him, but not before Agalag cast Demi 3 and drained it of three-thirds its energy. The other six Tipalian Great Soldiers came and blew it from the galaxy.

Zalaa was punished by being blasted into space, but he had a remote which he used to order Lavos to return to Tipalia and wipe out all life from it. Zalaa then landed on Earth, where he found descendents of some of the Human Resistance and Tipalian rebels that were also blasted into space. Here, though, the humans ruled, but did not enslave the Tipalian descendents. From there, he learned English, changed his name to "Azala" and the Tipalian name to reptite, became the leader of the reptites, and summoned Lavos to Earth.

Zeal - *Saddened by Kajar's death, she orders the death of the killer. Then, she studies up on the Unnamed Magic element type, and decided to kill all of them, she says for the safety of the country, but it is really more of a mad vengeance. The power from the Sun Stone is running out, though, so she needs a new source of power to do it. So, the Prophet requests Lavos energy, and she accepts it, ordering Belthasar to create the Mammon Machine. Zeal had Schala summon the power from it, without caring about Schala's pain. Melchior notes to Janus that she is no longer herself, but infused with Lavos, and that she greeds for only more power. Zeal hears him, though, and condemns him to Mount Woe. With Lavos energy she became known to the people as the bringer of magic, although what they meant was the powerful Lavos magic. Later, informed by the Prophet that the Gurus were treasoning against them, she has Lavos send them through Gates, as well as Janus who at that time challenged Lavos.*

After her death she awaits the Entity for Judgment, saddened by what she did in her Lavos state. However, the Entity suspends Judgment, and gives her limited powers (not Powers, she has those already) to help out Crono and his friends. She sees it as something to do to determine Judgment, although all the Entity, Kajar, wishes to do is remove any remaining Lavos energy from her, as well as help them out. First, she goes to 65 million B.C., where Crono, Marle, and Lucca is now, and asks for them to help out their friends while searching for Crono's mom, which they do. For Ayla (although only Kino sees Zeal) she protects Karla and revives those who died in the senseless Ioka-Laruba battle. For her son, Magus, she transports him to the Ocean Palace from Epoch and gives him and Schala a Black Mail for fighting the Golems. For Frog she makes a secret passage out the cell and revives Cyrus. And for Robo, Zeal near the end of her powers, she can only help by preventing Robo's capture and guiding him to the Geno Tower. All of these people see Zeal in a shadow, so they don't know it is Zeal (besides Kino who saw her true form, but never met Zeal in the first place).

At the campfire scene in the Mysterious Woman's Story, she reveals her identity as Zeal, and why she did everything. Upon doing this, she calls upon the truth, which changes Frog into human form. She then tells her story and answers some questions. Her powers gone, she returns to the Entity for Judgment, where he said that her "soul may 'live' happily with your husband's soul, forever," revealing himself as her husband, Kajar, who explained further about Judgment. Kajar retired from being Entity, which position was replaced by Melchior, and both their souls lifted together as glimmers into the skies to be together, forever. But still, Hazel Zeal wondered who she was...

Places, things, concepts, etc.

Animal Energy Plan - A plan on Tipalia by Zalaa as supposed to be as an alternative energy source. The Tipalians would learn magic from an animal genetically-engineered to drain the planet, which would be a porcup changed into an energy porcup. Using magic they would return energy to the planet. However, Zalaa lied when he said they could re-energize the planet; they couldn't. His real plan was to rule Tipalia, since after the planet would be drained of its energy; the Tipalians would be begging him for the energy. He created a second energy porcup, and had it and the other breed to produce a natural energy absorber, which would be capable of draining a planet's energy faster than its parents. Zalaa could not just attack with this, though, since he knew that Agalag of the Great Soldiers would defeat him. Drawing him into space, Zalaa had the natural energy absorber, later known as Lavos, kill Agalag. Before Agalag died, though, he cast Demi 3 on Lavos, which allowed the other Great Soldiers to later blow him from the galaxy.

While Zalaa's plan wasn't a success, after being blasted into space he was still able to control Lavos, which he had crash into Tipalia, killing everyone there.

Blue Gate - A Gate to any of the exact five basic time periods: 65 million B.C., 12,000 B.C., 600 A.D., 1000 A.D., and 2300 A.D.

Energy Porcup - See Porcup.

Enlightened/Earthbound Separation - Once, they lived together, but when the people got there hands on the Sun Stone, they would learn how to use magic. However, there were some which found it too difficult, for reasons unknown, and the soon to be "Enlightened" separated themselves from the now Earthbound. The Earthbound still possessed the gene identifying the elemental type they could learn, though.

Entities - There have been three Earth Entities, the "previous Entity", which gave Mother limited Powers, Kajar, who gave the Powers to Zeal and Crono, and Melchior (in order). It is never mentioned who gave the Powers to Ancient Yakra. It is hard to explain about Entities. They don't rule over a time period, rather, the Chrono Trigger time string. In this sense, it could be said that they rule all at once. To be more precise, they rule over the CT time string, but in a different field of time than Earth. Each planet with life has its own Entity.

Ersam - A planet near to Tipalia occupied only by bacteria. The baby "natural energy absorber" porcup, later to be known as Lavos, drained Ersam of all its energy to increase its size.

Extraction Machine - A machine Zalaa used in the Animal Energy Plan, to drain the energy from the energy porcup so the Tipalians could learn magic. It's Earth counterpart could be considered the Mammon Machine.

Gates - See Blue Gate and Red Gate.

Gate Element - An element that identifies a Gate. When a human passes through a Gate, they get a trace of this harmless element within themselves, which stays there for 45 million years.

Gate Locator - Lucca's modified Gate Key. With this, one can locate the Gate Element and thus locate Gates. However, since at the "time" (for the lack of a better word) it was created Gates were gone, its main function is to locate people who have been through a Gate, since they would have a trace amount of the Gate Element. Used to find Crono's Mother.

Geno Tower - What Geno Dome is now in the new 2300 A.D.; the place where Mother lies. It gets destroyed after Robo, with the help of Lucca's virus and the other robots, defeat Mother.

Great Soldiers - Seven people, as told by the Universe Book, bestowed on each planet to try to protect the world when it is in peril. It is unknown how the Great Soldiers are chosen, if at all. On Earth, the seven are Crono and his friends. On Tipalia they were Agalag, Terces, Poccu, and four other unnamed Tipalians. The safety of the Great Soldiers is not insured by the Universe Book, however; if they die, so too the planet. (Of course, Ersam, the planet Lavos drained so he could grow, had bacteria on it. So it would have life and thus Great Soldiers, right? Yes, but remember, the seven aren't necessarily animals. That's right, seven bacteria. Somehow the idea of seven bacteria fighting off Lavos doesn't seem like it'd work, does it? Hence, why the planet died (implied). ^_^)

GU-Series - A series of guard robots.

Humanity - Being rebelious slaves on Tipalia, many members of the Human Resistance were blasted off into space, a few landing on Earth. This people on Earth bred, and thus began Chrono Trigger humanity.

Human Resistance - Humans of Tipalia against the Tipalian rule. These humans protested, and several of which were punished by being launched into space.

Ioka/Laruba Battle - Due to Ancient Yakra's control over the Larubans, he was able to get them to fight Ioka in attempt to have Yakra rule. However, that plot was foiled when Ayla defeated him at Laruba.

Judgment - A judgment on a person by the Entity when that person dies. Unlike when it comes to Powers, there are no rules which binds the Entity to do or not do something during Judgment. A "heaven" or "hell" is never mentioned, but one can suppose that Judgment affects their fate in the afterlife.

Before considering Judgment for Zeal, the Entity Kajar, since Zeal felt truely sorry for what she done, gave Zeal limited powers (note: not Powers) to use to help out Crono and his friends. Although Zeal, before she knew he was Kajar, thought Judgment in this case to also affect her fate, Kajar's main reason was both to help out Crono and friends and rid any remaining Lavos energy from her. Kajar told Zeal that her "soul may 'live' happily with your husband's soul, forever," and then revealed that he was that husband.

Lost Magic - An element of magic originally unnamed, later given this name by the people because of the Massacre. *The unnamed one who killed Kajar,* the fake Kenneth, and Crono's mother used this type of magic. In order to have this elemental type, though, the magic trait passed from both parents must be of the Lost Magic type, hence another reason it is named so. The only mentioned spells of the Lost Magic type are Reflect and Dispel.

Lost Magicians Massacre - Because of Zeal's "fear" of the ones with the Unnamed Magic, * sparked by Kajar's death at the hands of one with it,* she decided to have them all killed. *She needed a new source of magic to be able to, though, and jumped at the Prophet's idea of magic from Lavos.* Most of the Enlightened possessing this element were killed, leaving few people left with it, hence the name given to the element by the people: the Lost Magic.

Natural Energy Absorber - An energy porcup created with no needed manipulation of the gametes (sperm and egg) of its parents. Of course, this would require two energy porcups, which do not occur naturally. So Zalaa (see Animal Energy Plan) would make two energy porcups and have them breed to produce a natural energy absorber. Because it was created "naturally" per se, it could drain a planet quicker than a normal energy porcup. Lavos was the only natural energy absorber created.

Penguin on the "TV" - In Unearthly Beginnings, Zalaa had a penguin-like creature on his "TV", which was required under Tipalian law. This doesn't have anything to Poccu, but is rather an inside joke. Those of you who have seen the signature to my email or a particular one of my three IRC quit messages (should) get it.

Porcup - A porcupine-like species that inhabited Tipalia. Zalaa used one of these as part of his "Animal Energy Plan." He manipulated the sperm and egg of two porcups, to produce an "energy porcup" to execute the plan. He would produce another energy porcup, and have it breed with that one to produce a "natural energy absorber."

Powers - When a person or creature is powerful and has a huge influence over time, it requests to the Entity for the Powers. The current Entity cannot refuse the Powers to the requester if he/she has enough power. The Powers include a telepathic power, and, more known, the ability to see into all time strings. Ancient Yakra and Zeal requested the Powers and got them. Crono and Mother are two exceptions, in which the Entity (Kajar and the "previous Entity", respectivally) gives them the Powers instead of them being requested. Yakra and Mother never cared to use the telepathic part of the Powers.

Red Gate - A Gate to any year not covered by the Blue Gates. Takes more energy for Gaspar to create one of these.

Red Knife - *Melchior's Red Knife, which would later become the Masamune. Belthasar purposely put a weakness in the Mammon Machine while creating it to this knife. However, he warned to use it only as a last result, which it was. He could not guarantee it's effectiveness against the Mammon Machine, since it would depend on the state of the machine.*

R-Series - A series of robots considered outdated in the new 2300 A.D.

Smart Lavos Spawn - A specific type of Lavos Spawn created in the Black Omen. Using the Black Omen powers, it made them morph so they could morph and talk. There was one Lavos Spawn in the Black Omen (in the game) they fought that was in the process of becoming "smarter." Both the Clones and the fake Kenneth were smart Lavos Spawns.

Sunken Ocean Palace - When the Crono and his friends beat the Black Omen, it sunk and became known, ironically, as the "Sunken Ocean Palace." Magus, with the help of Crono, Marle, Lucca, and Zeal, searched here and found Schala. To try to get them, Dalton, with the last of his power, destroyed the Ocean Palace, Magus and Schala were able to get out just in time.

ST-Series - A series of robots known for their stealth.

Time Strings - An aspect mentioned several times, but never really explained. The best definition of "time string" would be a certain flow of time. (This is quite difficult to explain.) For example, in one time string, Lavos may be destroyed, in another, Lavos may destroy the earth. Most people have lives in all time strings, but only live in one. By going through time, though, one can adjust a time string. The series only exists in one of those strings. The Powers gives the ability to see into all time strings, and thus to see into everything that can happen.

Tipalia - The planet in which the ancestors to Earth's humans and reptites were born. The reptites, called Tipalians, had an advanced knowledge and made the human's their slaves. Some of the Human Resistance and few rebel Tipalians were blasted into space, some of them landing on Earth. After Zalaa was blasted into space, he had what would become known as Lavos crash into it, "ushering a long, cruel ice age" for Tipalia, making Tipalians and humans alike on the planet become extinct.

Tipalia can also refer to one of the Tipalian types of magic (similar to our Earth magic).

Tipalian - Refers to either a citizen of the planet Tipalia, which some would land on Earth and become known as 'reptites', or the language they speak.

Universe Book - It is unexplained how it began, what exactly it is, and where it is, but it can be supposed that it was created by higher beings than the Entities and that it contains the laws of the universe. The 46th verse states that on every world there is to be seven, known as the Great Soldiers, to save the world when it is in peril. It does not guarantee the safety of the Great Soldiers, though.

Unnamed Magic - See Lost Magic.
