Dragon Warrior I

Dragon Warrior is the first without-a-doubt RPG (Zelda 1 and 2 came before that, but some people don't count those as RPGs). This was the RPG to make all RPGs. A great classic! Battles are one-on-one turn-based battles.

The Kingdom of Alefgard had been kept peaceful by the Ball of Light with King Lorik on the throne. One in Alefgard was unhappy, though. Once he found that he had control over dragons and other monsters, he was named the Dragonlord. He assaulted Tangel Castle and the nearby down of Brecconary and took the Ball of Light.

The next day, a man who had journeyed a long way named Erdrick met with the king. Erdrick listened to Alefgard's problems and offered to help. Soon after he had ventured out, tales came in about monsters starting to appear. Then came stories about that brave armored warrior who destroyed them.

Erdrick gathered clues and learned that the Dragonlord lived in Charlock castle on a remote island. This island could only be reached with a magical Rainbow Drop. He found it, and went to the island to fight the Dragonlord. Erdrick was never heard from again.

Years past before the Dragonlord returned to Tangel Castle. This time, he kidnapped Princess Gwaelin. Another man came and claimed to be the decendent of Erdrick. He set out to find Gwaelin, but during his journey he found a cave with tablets in them. These tablets were written by Erdrick, and said that it was his decendent's destiny to fight the Dragonlord.

Erdrick's decendent has two quests, to find Gwaelin, and to defeat the Dragonlord. You are the decendent.

+ A true classic! Cool puzzles and dungeons. Old English speech adds to realism. A variety of awesome items. Overall this is a good game.

- The need to fight enemies to level up and gain GP can get tedious. 1 on 1 battles can be difficult to get used to. Little character development. Only one method of transportation (walking). NES requires that you press Reset and Power at the same time when turning off the game, otherwise the data may be lost (I don't know why).

What do I say? Don't expect too much out of it if you buy it. Also, don't hack up to much $$ for it.
