The Master Necromancer's Tale
Master Jandor duelled Salinek and made the giant flee.
Then he made a last time visit to his wife (ahem, that's me...)
The Rager giant at the entrance to Warriors' Guild
Stood until Zauephuaes, another Master, killed
Him, took all his gear so no one else would.
Now this kill was dishonorable, Zauephuaes understood,
And determined to return all the gear.
Zauephuaes' golems had it all here...
But one of the golems was summoned by Krow,
A Paladin who was to Zauephuaes a foe.
So Salinek lost three minor pieces and
The Master let him choose from two items he had at hand.
Zauephuaes gave Salinek a Ring
Of Fortitude (an excellent thing!).
As he was about to give the Rager another pick,
The Paladin Krow played a nasty trick
And attacked him in town. From the top floor
Of the armorer, Zauephuaes tore
To the colossal tree, where the ring he gave
To Salinek. Then the situation turned grave.
Ophelia entered by way of a magical gate,
From a previous kill by Zauephuaes filled with hate;
She garbled him so he could not cast a spell,
And Krow's wrath prevented a word of recall as well.
When she attacked him she was almost killed
By his entourage of living-dead mobs, deadly-skilled.
But the Master himself was in a bad bind:
Garbled, wrathed, charmed, held, treated unkind.
He was unable to himself defend
And Ophelia, her desire great to end
His life, called upon Krow, in front of the young ones
In the Arena, for out of mana she runs...
So Zauephuaes was slain by mighty Paladin Krow.
(At a time when he was too helpless to fight back, y'know?)
Not long after, the Necromancer was outside his guild
When Krow once again had him shamefully killed
Convulsing and naked, in town, unarmed,
Not able to get to where he'd be unharmed.
So the Paladin got him again while he was down
And was never flagged 'WANTED' for three kills in town.
Zauephuaes told me this must have been
Krow's revenge from a time previous when
Three young Masters (himself, Fengal, and Jandor)
Wanted to do something much grander
Than killing for levels, and had done Krow in.
They had three-on-one killed the Paladin.
Two Paladins then summoned Zauephuaes from his mob
But in their attempt to kill him they did a bad job,
For Zauephuaes killed the both of them solo.
And the Paladins could not accept being brought down so low.
With Ophelia, it was accidental death.
Grouped with a paladin whose breath
The Necromancer snuffed out, she fled not
But tried to help and died on the spot.
It was in Galadon, and her gear was taken.
So her revenge was to have Zaeuphuaes shaken
Of his stuff and killed. Later they had a truce,
But her chaotic nature was let loose
And broke the peace, performing the most perfect "PK"
Zauephuaes had ever seen yet, for there was no way
Out of it. He could not gate through Palantir
To his friend Jandor to get his gear.
Had Ophelia attacked when Krow gave in to hate,
Zauephuaes might have been able to gate.
He couldn't've been saved by anything short of divine intervention.
The Necromancer did take the time to mention
That he was not in a furious killing spree:
Two Ragers and two groupmates did their bloody deaths see,
Two other Battle Ragers have from his rage fled;
And Zauephuaes vows to again make Krow dead.
As told by Zauephuaes the Wraith to
Esarvee, Master of Melody
[Historic Note: The (current) events of this song took place during Esarvee and Jandor's last meeting before his long absence. One can only wonder how different the events would have been had Esarvee not been around to distract Jandor from paying attention to Zauephuaes' dilemma and perhaps coming to his rescue.]
