Georg Friedrich Handel
(1685-1759)
1) Orgelkonzerte Organ Concertos
from the Baroque era are grand pieces, and the concertos
performed here are representative of the time. Performed by the
Munchner Kammerorchester conducted by Georg Klinka with Johann
Biber at the Organ, are: Concerto for Organ and Orchestra in
G Minor No. 1 Op. 4, Concerto for Organ and Orchestra in
F Major No. 4 Op. 4, Concerto For Organ and Orchestra in
F Major No. 13 Op 4 HWV 295 (The Cuckoo and the Nightingale).
The fourth offering on this CD is the Suite for Harpsichord
in F Major.
2) Water Music and Fireworks
Music Besides
the oratorio Messiah, these are probably Handel's most
famous pieces. Parts of the Water Music suite can be
heard in the background of commercials for water faucets. On this
LDMI World Famous Masterpieces recording, Oliver Dohaniy conducts
the Slovakian Philharmonic Orchestra.
I'll
add more as I find enough information to give a decent listing. I
listen to more than I have in my cd collection, and by no means
own cd's of all my favorite pieces.
