Francois Couperin (1668-1733)
Admittedly
I was not as familiar with this composer as with others, but for
a theme of his taken by Maurice Ravel and played with for an
absolutely gorgeous piece (Ravel was quite the master
orchestrator). That Couperin was a baroque composer, though,
endears him more to me because that era of music is my favorite.
Listen
to MIDI files for an idea what this music sounds like*:
Les Barricades Mysterieuses
La Linotte Effarouchee
Les Papillons - Butterflies
Les Moissonneurs
Dernier Kyrie
* Keep in mind these are only MIDI files and not live or CD
quality performances
I'll
add more as I find enough information to give a decent listing. I
listen to more than I have in my cd collection, and by no means
own cd's of all my favorite pieces.
