Johannes Brahms (1833-1897)
1) symphony no. 1 in C minor, op.
68 When
I first bought this Black Pearl recording of Louis de Froment
conducting the Radio Luxembourg Symphony Orchestra, since it was
one of those really inexpensive CD's I didn't think it would be
such a good recording. I was wrong. The interpretation is
energetic, and the melodic fourth movement (from which my sixth
grade graduation march was taken) never fails to bring back
memories of a hundred or more children's voices raised up in a
victory song, each word clearly sung for audience understanding
over the instrumental accompaniment.
I'll
add more as I find enough information to give a decent listing. I
listen to more than I have in my cd collection, and by no means
own cd's of all my favorite pieces.
