Izzy Stradlin was a childhood friend of Axl Rose who he met back in their hometown of Lafayette, Indiana. The two later met up in LA. Izzy's leaving the band has beena source of much rumor and speculation. Axl has been interviewed on the matter a couple of times. Civil War is reported to be written about the 14 year relationship between Axl and Izzy.
