ERRORr - Breakthru: 69
ZombaH - 68
Okay, Hmm... first of all, I have to say that I don't like
the main melody at all. Still, those pianos are really nice,
and the drumwork is good. What can I say... some good, some
great, and some poor ideas. Overally, quite a working tune. Oh
yea, that bonustrack-stylish part in the end is terrific... can't help
but to think that the whole tune should have been like that.
Psychoholic - 70
Begins with somehow familiar melody... Well, anyway the
melody-instument sounded poor, too poor to begin a promising
song. Beats helped to achieve quite fair scores, although they
sounded much too light-weighted. One of my favourite parts,
piano sections, were enjoyable though peculiar chord
progressions are extremely hard to carry out with tracker.
Some nice fx's and sounds, but obviously not enough to
achieve higher points. (highest this month, though)
Seam - Scott Baird: 68
ZombaH - 67
This is one of those tunes which are quite a big pain in the
ass for reviewers. If you rate it low in your review, the author
and his fans will flame you for you didn't understand the function
and true essence of the track. Well, thank god I like it in general...
it just is a bit too repetitive, and has some irritating melodies
in my humble opinion. Technically this is just a bit above average.
Still, easily the most original & interesting tune in this compo.
Psychoholic - 69
This one reminded strongly like the music on Nine Inch Nails's
new "Fragile"-album. Interesting melodes, riffs & ideas, but it
would require a lot more work to make this tune 100% competent.
Put more attention to sound quality, finish all the effects and
melodies, and remove the damn whining and you'll get 80 points
easily. If I someday have enough time, this is something I'd
definitely like to remix! Good work.
Undercover - Zool: 67.5
ZombaH - 68
Quite nice funky & electronic stuff... for a moment I was
a bit puzzled for this tune isn't technically as good as I've
used to expect from zool, but soon I saw that this piece dates
back in 1998. Some unmature ideas lower the score, but still
a really listenable result.
Psychoholic - 67
Smooth operator on it's way to achieve 67 points in Groove Injektor.
A smooth tune, perhaps even a bit too smooth. Especially the drums,
as well as many other instruments, would have required more volume,
guts & balls. Too plain & simple to achieve higher points, but it did
have somekind of an atmosphere which made it quite enjoyable.
Two by Four - Quad: 64
ZombaH - 70
Wanker stuff. This one reminds me of those old amiga demos with
some glamourish raytraced animations, etc. It even has the same problem
as those demos had... while they we're really nice and well-made,
I could never really understand why on earth would anyone like to
watch them more than once. Still, a really neat light music piece
for people who like the style, I suppose.
Psychoholic - 58
Aye, jazzy pop. Wondering why your tune only got 58 points?
Well, melodies were 99% faultless, like the rhytm & structure.
The problem lies beneath special words like "originality" and
"techniques" which are needed to create satisfying tracker music.
It's no use to create a good melody, you also have to make it
sound good. And don't foget originality. This time you only
achieved zero originality points.
Jagged Nation - Shiftless:
ZombaH - 62
Shiftless has made quite nice techno tune here, which however has
some problems... for example, some parts of the tune seem to belong
anywhere but in this song. Luckily, those parts are quite short,
so they don't manage to ruin the whole tune. Also, partially this
tune just tries to be a little too complex while the essence of
it is generally minimalistic, making it sound somewhat phastly
made. Still, with some corrections this would easily prove to be
the best tune by Shiftless yet.
Psychoholic - 65
Basically very simple techno tune that rests itself much on speech
samples while melodies and beats stick to the background. Although
technical level wasn't stunning, this one had a solid idea! Congratulations.
"God was an american" - David Bowie
Interstellar - Crusader: 63
ZombaH - 60
Technically above average, but major boring stuff. While being
almost faultless, it really doesn't have anything to offer. Ok
melodies with ok effects, but it would require atleast a miracle
if I would remember a single part of this tune afterwards. Sure,
if you like this kind of music and you're looking for some ordinary
tunes to your collections, go ahead and download this one.
Psychoholic - 66
Yawn... Quite (?!) ordinary tune with quite ordinary riffs and instruments
and quite ordinary melodies etc. so don't ask why it got quite ordinary
reviews too. I can see you're a skilled tracker so why bother to make so
extremely uninspiring music? You'll never make it over 70 points here
with music like this.
Dungeon Mind - Vcroy: 60
ZombaH - xx
Due some technical problems, no review available.
Psychoholic - 60
Powerful beats & riffs (though they were a bit too messy), but
sometimes it isn't all about powerful beats & riffs. I have to admit
that Dungeon Mind seems to have more unique elements than most
of its brothers and sisters, and it actually made my foot stomp every
now and then. Pay more attention to sound quality, try using cool
effects with samples, and give more time to each tune and you'll
get a much bigger scores next time.
Sound with a Vision - Dj Keys: 58.5
ZombaH - 65
Here we go again... Dj Keys is a name you can count on if you
like catchy but really ordinary techno. While other techno-stylish
tunes tried to win my heart with lot's of effects and ideas,
Sound with a Vision scored more with only a few simple and working ideas.
Still, ordinary stuff won't reach the 1st place in this compo.
Psychoholic - 50
Well, let's just say that this tune isn't exactly alone. Wouldn't it be
a good time to give up those drumloops and start achieving points
from the drumwork too? Points from piano, melodies and effects: 50.
On Ice - Absinthe: 58
ZombaH - 60
Basic melodic stuff. Luckily, this one has some nice ideas which
make up the ordinality... the middle part of tune is quite interesting,
being somekind of strange cross-over of blackmetal stylish melodies,
funky bassline & basic demomusic. The guitars in the end are badly
tracked and of poor quality; they don't seem to fit the tune at all...
I bet this one would be better without them. Still, enchance those nice
ideas you have, and someday you might produce something I would respect.
Psychoholic - 56
Well, this song had many sides to think off. Of course it's a positive
thing to avoid making too plain songs but this song had enough
material for a couple songs. Instead of stuffing so much elements
on one song try to concentrate on sample quality, sound balance(!)
& tracking techniques. Okay, but it didn't impress anyhow. Check
it out before the final release.
Melting Ice Cream Cone - Shiftless: 55
ZombaH - 58
Yet another let's-fool-around-with-some-effects -tune by
Shiftless, and to be honest, he has managed to pull it off better
in the past. I can't really pinpoint where exactly lays the problem
with this one, but it just doesn't please me very much...
I guess it should have some good and catchy parts in it.
Psychoholic - 52
Originality, quality, ideas and great vibes. Some of the reasons we keep
our compo up for. Unfortunately this tune wasn't famous fan supporter
of these ideas. Ps. What the hell kind of a name is "Melting Ice Cream
Cone" anyway? Don't even ask did it take your scores down for christ's sake!
Lan Bat - Iron Mage: 53
ZombaH - 52
After a promising start, this tune just keeps on getting worse
and worse... I really think I could have survived without hearing
this one. Mediocre ideas & messy structure without any stability
rarely makes a good tune. Sorry dude, but this one sucked most.
Psychoholic - 54
Nice to have more of these pain-in-the-ass-style techno tunes here.
If you (or anybody else reading these reviews) want to know what
I think (and I have a feeling I'm not the only one) of this kind of
music I suggest you read our earlier results too. Something inside
of me makes it impossible to write the same stuff over & over again
endlessly so I'll just say it: 54 points. You're welcome.
