SECTION VI. CONCLUSION

In conclusion we found that all of these programs are necessary and are needed to assist students at Hoover High school in gaining a higher education. However, it is evident from our research that there needs to be improvement on communication with student’s parents and between all programs researched. We also found there needs to be more SAT preparation provided. We found that while students are aware of these existing programs, parents are not aware or have not understood the importance of these programs as they attain to their child. We also found that there needs to be more centralized communication with all programs for the benefit of advertising and because there is the potential that all of these programs may be competing with one other. Possible ideas to help improve existing communication gaps include having one person centralizing communication and time structures of existing programs. Advertising programs in a letter home to parents. Calling parents and not students. Having counselors meet with both students and parents. During parent nights and open house providing information on all resources available to students and information why these programs are so important to each student. Overall the difference between traditional culture within the family unit and the school culture have proven to be the fundamental disconnection in communication. This lack of communication and connection results in all of these programs not being utilized in their full potential.
